Anyone else somehow actually more pissed about the Wade situation now?
I mean I'm thrilled he's still our coach, but the fact that they suspend him for the NCAA tournament and reinstate him now? Pure incompetence. What did he do that was so egregious you can suspend him for the tourney, and yet keep him on as coach?

Sickening.

Ask him. Why did it take him 35 days to talk?

Because Alleva wouldn't meet with him.

That and the God-awful, incredibly petty press release in which Joe takes unnecessary shots at Wade.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen people in such positions of power being so bad at public relations. It’s truly astounding. They just can’t help themselves.

He never should have been put in the position in the first place, once again, but they put him in that position.

Been pissed the whole time. There were better ways to have handled this than the way our Admin did, especially when they knew (should have known) in October that he had been mentioned). Should have cleared it up and gotten out in front of the story.

He knew he would be walking into an ambush! Played their own PR game against them. And he won!

I am. I now can see why so many were so pissed. It was a total political hack job. Alleva and FKing must be Democrats.

And Wade was going to meet with Alleva and FKA. But they did not have the temerity to meet with Wade. They were too scared. Alleva and FKA were only confident enough to meet with Wade in the company of the NCAA, LSU compliance and LSU legal.

Very weak leadership when you are too scared to meet with your employees alone.

I'm still irritated as I was before, though I, too, am glad he's been reinstated.

Possibly the most ignorant narrative, IMO, by Wade detractors is this idea that "if he had just done this when they asked him to, he never would have been suspended".

What makes no sense, is if all they wanted was a flat denial (which is apparently all that really happened in this meeting), then why was it necessary to have a meeting, at all? He denied wrongdoing from the first wiretap story. why was it so essential that he come to a meeting to repeat a denial?

The whole thing is stupid, and I think Wade was right not to trust them when they asked for a meeting the first time. Honestly, I think after the backlash the administration received, and with his new lawyer, Wade probably felt like he was in a good position to retain his job. A month ago, it seemed like they were ready to can him at any excuse they could get, considering how quickly they threw him under the bus.

Or

once again

not overreact to a YAhoo! targeted attack with no actual evidence then publicly come out and say Wade wouldnt talk to them (pending subpoena from trial) so he's being suspended.

All could have ALL been avoided by simply coming out and saying "We will investigate this matter internally and gather all facts" - but nope, the admins went FULL retard and some will be losing their jobs now. Goes to show how incompetent they are. Alleva's already has done this rodeo once before at Duke.

What would it cost to keep you silent for 35 days?

That's a fair question, but the Administration deserves more of the blame.

Drawing a line in the sand that was not needed and that accomplished nothing was short sighted and inflicted self-harm. Good leadership would have handled the situation much, much better even if Wade had the same position.

LSU should have been working to eliminate the concerns Wade had. It should have been "assuring" Wade that the meeting was basically a formality. It should have done so because it was in LSU's best interest.

Furthermore, openly speaking poorly about Wade in the media, insinuating dishonesty was just plain retarded.

In the end, Wade probably could have made a better decision if he were advised by someone who know the NCAA better. But, the Admin's failure to show leadership and manage this crisis was much, much worse than Wade's decision.

First of all, I’m thrilled Wade is back.

Secondly one can certainly argue LSU could have not allowed the NCAA to participate.

However, Wade, after refusing to meet with LSU and NCAA officials for over a month (on advice of counsel) ultimately after adding new counsel to the legal team (on advice of counsel) agreed to meet with LSU and NCAA officials and was reinstated 2 days later.

The only things that changed over the past month was Wade’s legal counsel and his willingness to meet.

Again we can debate if it was was wise or necessary for LSU to include the NCAA.

What factually cannot be argued is that after initially refusing to meet Wade did meet after a month and was reinstated.

Does anyone here truly believe Wade would not have been reinstated some 2 days after meeting at any point over the past month?

All of this.

No matter what Alleva's personal feelings toward Wade may be, after this whole situation, his job as the supposed face of the athletic department is to make this as smooth as possible, and play it cool and calm. Talk about moving forward, and working together, blah blah. You put your happy face on and you go out there and lie through your teeth if you have to, to make it seem like you're getting along great.

But what does Alleva do? He shows how insecure he is, and how clearly affected he is by what people are saying about him, in telling us once again how he had no choice, because Wade wouldn't play nice, and didn't want to join in on their reindeer games.
