Sorry, when I didn’t see it on here figured I would’ve been late to the game. Should’ve checked both first. Just curious if people still want him to stay with all the theatrics he’s put on. Great talent but at this point is he an asset because of physical gifts or a detriment because of lack of commitment. Hope the best for him and for him to be fully committed to us and to being part of a ‘team.’ Phenomenal talent could be an all time great if he gets things right.

We're all pulling for him, if he's a Tiger.

P & M will talk him into coming back by moving him to WR.

He doesn't like to block, so let him do what he does best. (Catch the ball and run fast after he does) WR's have to block too, but not as much as TE'S.

Move him to WR where he'll be a matchup nightmare......

So, all the talk of him being soft was accurate.

I was not overwhelmed with the hire of these two guys, more like google coaches, but if they can salvage some of the players they are off to a good start. Their press conference was certainly impressive. Hopefully O pulled the right trigger here. Time will tell.

Not true. Many people on this board lack understanding about blocking.

I mean, I get all the talk of him being soft, but we also didn’t do much with him in The latter half of the season than have him run stick routes in traffic. We didn’t utilize his abilities at all. He’s a 6’6 250 pound gazelle matchup nightmare that we used like a post with arms in the middle of the field.

I’d be pissed too if I signed up for Joe Brady’s offense and got this. Thad Moss’s slow arse got to run wide open way more times than Arik. Hopefully Peetz can get him back in the fold.

kyle pitts comes to mind. This is why he was looking at Fl. The man just wants the ball like 7 or 8 times a game. Maybe these guys said they would do that. I believe he could be the next Pitts just needs a Qb to get him the ball. Brennan was doing that before he got hurt.

I heard nobody really wants him, so he comes back like a puppy with his tail tucked under his arse? LSU needs players who really want to be here.

Great talent, but seems spoiled and selfish. WR block too. Granted, its not DLineman, but they still block whens its not their play. Let's continue to develop the "One TEAM, ONE HEARTBEAT" mantra. We only want the ones who want to be here. Let's go Kole and D.Lee.

I believe it was the very first game of the year, we threw a WR screen, and Gilbert kicked out from the TE position to zone block five yards downfield. There were two defenders for him to block, and that was all there was between the WR who had the ball and a 50 yard TD. Gilbert did not even make an attempt to block. The WR faked out one guy and was tackled by the other. It would have been six points if, instead of Gilbert, a random ranter would have been out there.

He played is 8 games and had 35 catches
Do you think the problem may be we had a first year starter that did not handle pressure well, lacked the ability to read defenses and step into the pocket and execute. Then just as he was getting his groove on he was injured and a freshman stepped in with no college experience?

Since we don't know exactly why he left . . .
I'm reluctant to say what I want to say, which is f-him because of the way he left.

But we all have to understand that it was a stressful year for the entire program, between COVID and the NFL departures and the injuries and the new coaches. Not having a normal freshman year social life must have taken a huge toll on some. So, yeah, I can understand him wanting to just go home and clear his head.

If this wild-arse rumor about him coming back (which is what it is, nothing more, right?) is true, I'd say that it's Orgeron's call, but only if it passes muster with the team's upperclassmen leaders.
