Any chance Chark is selected late in the 1st round?
Posted by ctiger69 on 3/4/18 at 11:16 am130
I know he was projected as a second round pick but that was before his stand out performance at the Senior Bowl and now his combine performance improved his stock even more.
He stayed four years at LSU steadily improving while others were transferring. I really hope he can be a first round pick but he would be a steal for a NFL team in the second round.

I’m not totally sure but I do know DJ is making LSU look great to WR recruits. No matter how often we have “qb problems” we always have WRs that make noise around draft time. If he sneaks into the first round that would be great.

Green Bay really likes him but I don't know if they like him enough to take him at 14. Could see them trading back up to the end of the 1st to get him. They have a lot of picks later in the draft they could move.

Would love to se him with the Saints or Texans

I would be surprised if every NFL GM isn't taking notice of DJ. At this point, his total combine performance is comparable to some of the best ever. He'll be one of the fastest players in the NFL. Even if a GM is thinking 1-2yrs work on his route running, he's an obvious weapon on special teams...PR and KR.

50/50% he could slide into late 1st. Just takes one team. It’s a deep WR draft so it will be a matter of preference.

no it definitely is not
It might not be a lock but if I were a betting man I'd say he would go in the first
Several teams in the back half of the first could use help at WR and a guy with that size and speed is pretty rare.
Some likely landing spots include Dallas, Atlanta, New Orleans and Jacksonville
If he doesn't go to one of those I seriously doubt he makes it past Philadelphia

No It's not at all. WR is probably the worst position this year. There are really no guys that look like they'll be stud #1s. Ridley is the only WR who should be a first rd pick, but teams always reach so I'm sure Kirk or Sutton will go in the first too. I'd be surprised if Chark went in the first. I see him being a mid round second pick after his amazing combine showing.

LSU’s history of WRs coupled with his Senior Bowl performance and his combine numbers puts him firmly in that 22-32 range. Because if his height and body control, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him squeeze into the late teens. This WR crop is average at best, and his numbers were elite.
I think there is a solid chance, because some NFL GMs overemphasize measurables, and Chark’s are top of the chart.
I think a first round pick of Chark would be a mistake, though. Remember the play in the Bama game in which Etling threw a perfect bomb to Chark in the endzone? Chark never touched the ball, even though it might have hit him in the head had kept running. It’s only one play, but it’s symptomatic of Chark’s average ability to adjust to passes.
He will be tough for NFL defenses to handle because of his speed, height, leaping ability, and strength. Catch that pass against Bama, and I’d say he’s a first rounder - but he didn’t.

Very good chance he does sneak into 1st round. He was the best looking receiver at the combine. You can’t discount guys like Calvin Ridley game film, but Chark stood out among them all. That along with senior bowl performance, and his own tape, give him a great chance at the 1st.

Some things can be taught or corrected. However, you can’t just teach 6’3, 200 lbs./4.34 40
