I know people on here hate him because of his last few years but every Mainieri story I’ve heard has made me laugh. Maybe it’s because I’m imagining his voice. Ochinko told another on Mik’d Up.

No one hates him, the game had just past him by and it was time for him to step down.

Some people definitely hate him. But I think most, including me, agree with you

This. With the current trajectory of the baseball program, we should all already be over the frustration of the later PM years and start focusing on fondly honoring his contribution and legacy and being thankful for his service to LSU baseball. He will get a statue and rightfully so. Could he have won another title? Probably should’ve. But ultimately he brought us back to the top and kept us among the elite after the disastrous post-Skip years.

Seems like every program in the SEC has won a national title in baseball since Skip left the scene.

Ochinko might have the best Paul impression I’ve ever seen.

Come on man. You could say “the best to ever do it at LSU not named Bertman.” You’re too much, Johnson may make us forget about Paul and Skip. I pray he does.

You do understand I was not being literal, correct? We won’t ever forget about either one but what I’m saying is I hope he has more success than both of them combined. And yes Saban has had more success than Bryant ever did considering the rules.

Had a class with him in my senior year (he went back to LSU after his stint in the minors). Was not the douchiest former/current baseball player on campus. Although in true LSU Baseball fashion, he was constantly hitting up the gymnasts in the class (McKenna Kelley and Lauren Li). Called every guy in the room taller than him "big guy," which notably included Brandon Harris, Will Clapp, and DeSean Smith amongst others.

Yeah…according to Skip, his baseball players at LSU never had difficulty picking up coeds.
