American Red Cross Donations for South Carolina

Is there a different organization that is accepting donations for the flood relief in the area? Maybe a local organization in South Carolina? I just don't trust the Red Cross to spend any money wisely and I'm looking for an alternative. Any suggestions?

Red Cross is already in South Carolina helping the victims with shelters and food. The money collected at the game will go toward furthering those efforts.

Harvest Hope Food Bank
I got the name of this organization from Kassy Alia's facebook page. She is the widow of slain police officer Greg Alia from a Columbia, SC suburban police department; he was killed last week in an incident at a shopping mall.
I would recommend donations to this food bank.

Avoid Red Cross. Very little of the money donated to the RC goes to help victims of the flooding.

Don't believe those ads saying all the money collected by the RC will go to flood victims. It won't. They do not speak the truth when it is your money they are after. It was the same for Katrina. They use catastrophes with big headlines to collect money to fund their other projects.

I’m not calling anyone a liar, but does anyone have a link to support these suspicions of the Red Cross?
My experience with them was a good one. We had a fire in the Metairie apartment building I was living in at the time and I was shocked when the Red Cross showed up and put all the tenants in hotel rooms until we could return home.

American Red Cross is good. 90-91% of all donations go straight to direct aid. Charity Watch is actually a great 'watchdog' site to go to if you're ever hesitant. They expose good information on every non profit.

I am sure that you can contact a church organization that you have confidence in from the area . During Rita, there was a group of Baptists from Arkansas that sawed trees and reroofed more houses than anyone. Area churches gave them shelter and they stayed here for months.

Avoid Red Cross. They get rich off of your donations.
There are church organizations in S. Carolina that will better serve those in need than Red Cross.
Your own local churches are probably planning on sending help.

Don't really need to read up them. I know all about Red Cross and what they do. And trust me, they do a lot more good than you know.
