Let's say Herman goes to LSU 4 years ago.

Is there any chance that they catch lightning in a bottle in 2019?

I say it probably doesn't happen because Joe Brady to LSU probably wouldn't have happened. Ensminger put his ego aside and embraced that opportunity where as most OCs would have been reticent at best. I don't think Herman (or most HCs) would have seen Brady as ready to be the main OC at that point. The collab with Ensminger was perfect.

Tom Herman is the one who recruited Joe Burrow, so I have to believe that he at least gets him over to LSU like O did.

Herman brought his UofH staff to UT, rather than hiring the best coordinators available. Orlando would have been torched by SEC defenses. Besides, Herman could have recruited Burrow to UT, but didn't.

Herman proved that he could call the plays to beat Bama while at Ohio St.

Had Houston on a roll.
His future looked bright.

O hadn’t proved much then.
What O has shown is that he has trouble handling the fame.

Last 3 head coaches at LSU won national titles. Herman is a competent OC in his own right and would’ve put out a competent offense to start. Herman wins a title same as O in my opinion.

LSU would not have Brady, Aranda, Slinger, nor O's recruiting. All of those would be a step back. No way LSU wins the CFP without those guys.

Dude, the Herman obsession is bordering on Saban level around here.

I believe he made a really bad mistake not coming to LSU. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. Success in life has to do with work, but also with timing. He screwed up. Coach O was the benefactor of the screw up. Not taking anything away from O because he did the work to put that team together.

Maybe he can submit his 2017 resume on job interviews

Why would Burrow have gone to Texas to be in another QB controversy with Ehlinger?

Les Miles won a national title here

O has made some great moves but I think Herman could have won here. Maybe not 2019 level but I think he could have beaten Bama with our talent and his scheme

Aranda and Herman are friends supposedly. Enough so that everyone here was worried Aranda would go to UT with Herman. So very likely Aranda stays, Burrow stills comes as Bill Busch, our former safties coach knew Burrows dad and recruited Joe to come down here from OSU. Now, Brady likely would not have came but we'd still had a great offense with all the same players.

Burrow would have won a title here without brady, and thats no slight at brady.
He wouldve won one with herman as the de facto OC and aranda leading the defense

It's a program thing.

LSU takes new coaches and creates national championship teams within years for them.

3 titles in 20 years with 3 different coaches.

Not saying that Tom would have won a title. But there are too many rich cooks in the kitchen at texas and it is going to take an alpha like Meyer/Saban to clean the kitchen.

Once that is done, Texas can re-rail the train.

LSU has internal problems......just like every school out there. But it looks like the staffs get out of the way in some cases and correctly get in the way in others. It has worked.

2nd most titles in 20 years.
Best team of all time.

Rest in that.

Maybe aranda hires Herman as off coord at Baylor
If no head coach jobs open or he sits out a year
He still had a winning record in Austin every year and was right there with LSU last season - one stop away

You may be right, but it doesn't matter. Aranda was not a huge cog in the machine last year. We didn't win bc of our defense. We won bc the best offense in school history scored a gazillion points every game. There were a lot of Defensive Coordinators that could have stepped in and done the job.

Doubtful. It was between LSU and Cincinnati and Burrow has specifically commented that it was primarily Coach O that got him to LSU.

You are correct again. Brady would not have been here.

He had Elinger

We had Soph Brennan, McMillan and Narcisse

He may have went after Burrow.

Honestly I think there is a chance we win a Natty.

LSU has won national championships with their last 3 coaches.

Texas has ruined their last 2. Texas has Texas problems.
