Alleva's monetization of LSU athletics killing the gameday atmosphere
We have seen decreased attendance due to ungodly prices and corporate seats and with the introduction of paid corporate tailgates the gameday experience will only decline even more for the true fans. How long until you have to pay for a ticket to watch the band march down the hill?

You do realize that's the reason he was hired right?

His future at LSU is securely tied to O's.

Honestly, I bet if O was released week 4, and Aranda immediately promoted to HC - Alleva might get to keep his job.

He's public enemy #1 at LSU. He will not be remembered fondly in any way.

ETA: People saying that his fate is tied to Orgeron's are using too much common sense. When's the last time LSU did something that you thought was the decision of an organization/program acting with common sense and awareness?

. Ok, so why don’t you tell us why attendance is down and season tickets are down?

And the administration blames the new tax code on the lack of renewals

The heavy monetization actually started under $kip. Everything became more corporate. Parking lots that weren't pay lots became pay, then you can't even get on campus without paying. Skip also moved the students back from the basketball court.

It's a catch 22 though, it's dollars or atmosphere. It's rarely both.

The state’s economy is lackluster and unemployment is around 6.0%. That surely doesn’t help.

Yeah or maybe the fact that a seven game season ticket that includes Southeastern, LA Tech, Rice, and the only OOC worth a shite being playing in Dallas costs $425 plus hundreds if not thousands in bull shite "donations"

The entire season ticket structure at LSU is a damn racket and it blows my mind that people shell out that shite every damn year when you can get into the lower bowl for every game this season for a couple hundred bucks

I have to assume every other program in the country worth a damn is doing the same thing though.

To build new facilities and attract the recruits and all of that good stuff takes money.

I agree, things have gotten out of hand, but how do we fix it?

Well judging by the thousands of season tickets still available, the price point is currently too high above the supply and demand equilibrium. If it keeps up I'd like to think it'll "fix itself," but I don't exactly trust LSU to lower costs on anything with Alleva at the helm.

When LSU started charging for tailgate trailers about 10 yrs ago was the beginning of the downfall.

For a big game like Bama you would have 180K tailgating and the rest would stay behind and watch the game at tailgates.

Parking and traffic was a pain but seems like traffic direction and implementation is worse now with 80K less fans.

LSU had the opportunity to keep one of the best game Day traditions and tailgating alive, but it's been a slow death.

Why would someone come to campus now deal with the issues of parking, having to pay to park, terrible concessions, etc. In the past, a person without a ticket would stop somewhere for beer and food and bring to tailgate and didn't have to worry about having to pay to park. Party all day, enjoy the game on a TV at a tailgate and still be a part of the atmosphere.
