What good does that do when we score holding the ball for 90 seconds?

With a score per play ratio of .631 there is no way we don’t score enough to win even if OU grinds it out.

Our TOP has been just a hair over 50% for the season. Which isn’t dominating the TOP. We don’t need the ball for long periods.

Yes the D May get tired of it is too lopsided but it would have to be crazy lopsided for that to happen.

They can kill clock all they want. Won’t matter when we’re up 35 pts

They won't have an option to grind the clock after being down 21-0 at the end of the first quarter of play.

The problem with grinding the clock is you need to generate first downs

I think fatigue is more about the amount of plays than TOP

If they're snapping the ball within 3 seconds of the play clock that will limit their offensive plays

LSU only had the ball for 19 minutes vs Florida and put up 42 points, on a defense that is widely believed to be better than OU’s.

The main issue with that strategy is that those time consuming drives must result in touchdowns. If they don't, your down 2-3 scores and can no longer grind clock.

The only thing about killing the clock is they are having to lean on there defense to have key stops which i dont think happens...If you kill the clock you have to have stops and i just dont think that will help because you also are assuming you are scoring every drive as well

We beat Arkansas 56-20 while losing Time of Possession 40:29 to 19:31.

I dont care how bad Arkansas is that shows you how little ToP matters when playing LSU.

bingo. the whole grinding clock argument is ONLY if they are tied or ahead to keep us off the field on offense. UGA had same gameplan. how did that work out for them?

If LSU keeps doing what they have done all year it doesn’t matter how much clock OU grinds. Now if there is an LSU turnover or a couple of empty series the clock grinding suddenly becomes an issue. This would mean OU has done something no other team has been able to do this year to LSU.

The theory is that if OU grinds the clock (multiple 6 to 9 minute drives) it limits the number of plays our offense will be on the field. The fewer number of offense plays we run, the fewer number of possible scoring plays we will have. If they can hold us to under 55 plays their chances of winning the game are improved (although that theory didn't work well for Florida).

It’s the best strategy for them to win. Limits the number of stops they will need.

Doesn’t seem like there is a team in the country that could beat us in a shootout, so try not to make it one.

That’s their only chance IMO. Plus get stops which is a tall order.

Main issue with this OU doesn’t have a time possession to offense.

UF chewed clock. We still scored 42 and put up 500+ yards.

I just can't agree with you.

Obviously, being able to control the clock doesn't guarantee that Oklahoma will win. But, it sure as hell helps them.

Longer possession means less possessions

On the extreme end look at the OU Army game last year.d it was like 21-21 in regulation.

OU had 7 total possessions in regulation.
