wow OSU is #2 in the computers with A LOT of room to improve. With a Clemson and Okie St win this shite is coming down to the wire.

that is what I was thinking, but I don't know this stuff like most of the people on here. What will REALLY have to happen for OSU to jump Bama? Does VT HAVE to lose?

No. In a way, VT winning might actually help.

Cons of VT winning:

Ballots turn out as such:

1. LSU
2. Va Tech
3. Bama
4. OSU

or

1. LSU
2. Bama
3. Va Tech
4. OSU

Pros of Va Tech winning:

ballots turn out

BEST CASE SCENARIO
1. LSU
2. OSU
3. Va Tech
4. Bama

or

1. LSU
2. Va Tech
3. OSU
4. Bama

So in a best case scenario, Va Tech wins and helps to put distance between Bama and OSU since they will bea conference champ, a lot of people will use that to manipulate the final standings.

I really see no scenario where Va Tech jumps Bama.

Some guy I work with told me something tonight that he thinks and when I first heard it, I called him an idiot, but after thinking about it for awhile it somehow is making sense...

He believes that if LSU loses to UGA and OkSt beats OU by 10+, it would be LSU vs OkSt... Here's how he explained it...

LSU should not be ranked behind Bama after a loss in the conference championship game since LSU already beat Bama for the right to be there. Usually conference championships are important to decide which teams from different conferences will go to the NC, not teams from the same conference. Now if LSU does lose, that doesn't make Bamas one loss "look so good", thus allowing an OkSt to jump Bama in the BCS standings. That last statement was a big jump for me, but he stopped explaining there.

I don't know that much about the BCS formulas and polls, I don't know if he does either, but is that a legit scenario or not? I wanna disagree with him since he's that guy who thinks he knows everything about anything.

On ballots?

I would think if Va Tech is a conference champ the people who jump OSU will also jump Va Tech over Bama. Some will do it out of spite to widen the gap for OSU. Others will say "conference champ blah blah"

dude, No way Bama falls to 3 or 4 no matter what happens.

All we need is a gap closure. Yes VT must lose! And then OSU needs all 3rd place votes and 20-25% of 2nd place votes.

Okie Lite REALLY needs to impress this weekend to make 25% of voters change their mind.

This isn't about Va Tech jumping Bama in the BCS. I said BALLOTS.

There will be people who vote a Va Tech team with a better record and as a conference champ ahead of Bama. It will help to increse the distance between OSU and Bama and help OSU pass Bama.

I gotcha!... So we need to pull for WVU tomorrow, Oregon Friday, and OSU and VT Saturday...right?

Except for VT. They need to lose so as not to steal any votes from Okie Lite.

Interesting, Geaux. And LSU loss has to drag down Bama's loss too. Will be interesting. You can bet that Okie will try to put some serious hurt on Oklahoma; that's their shot at the NC.

I'll be curious to see if anyone sticks Houston in there somewhere to sink Bama further
