I noticed the ticket scanner people were standing at all exits the entire game this past week. They didn't leave.

There is no set inning. It's the moment the ticket office manager decides to close the box office. It'll be 4th inning on mid week games, usually by the 5th in reg season SEC, and 7th in post season.
They stand by the gates to make sure you don't bring in a case of beer. They aren't scanning tix
