Lol, which clown writer believes LSU Sports is for the entertainment of the students? It's all about the alumni, and the ability of LSU sports, mainly football, to generate TV revenue. Not to mention the impact LSU athletics, mainly football, has on attracting students to the university in the first place. Such a shallow take by the Advocate. Disappointing.

Blaming athletics for not giving enough to the school is a cop-out.

We should be asking why can’t we fund a university without Bleeding the cash cow dry?

The article keeps comparing us to other is colleges while admitting other colleges don’t do what we have been doing.

shite!!

Woodward’s basically saying that if he keeps shelling out money to help educate students, he won’t have enough to properly entertain them.

If that sounds like an argument straight out of imperial Rome, where leaders gave the populace thrilling circuses as the empire crumbled, Woodward’s philosophy isn’t exactly a new one around Tiger Nation. There’s been a tail-wagging-the-dog tradition at LSU for years as fans focused on fielding a competitive football team even as many of its academic programs fell far behind the offerings of peer institutions.

Not to disagree, but is athletics really being bled dry?

Maybe a bit extreme but still.

Most schools aren’t run on sports money.

The PMAC is no Spring Chicken. The Advocate is also running a story on Will Wade clamoring for facility upgrades.

Well, the athletic department brings in about $145 million. They profit around $15 million. The money to the school was an expense so now they'll profit over $20 million per year. In case you haven't been paying attention, schools like Arkansas and State are passing LSU up facility wise. The Box needs to be renovated to keep up. The PMAC isn't even close to today's standards. If you want to continue to compete at the highest levels in all sports you better have the cash. It's not the athletic department's responsibility to bail out the school's general fund because of the gross mismanagement that's been going on for decades. Fuuuuuuuuuuuck that.

I’m realizing now that LSU has been fully and totally infiltrated by the far left and are graduating a staggering number of people that think like this writer does.

Yep. It's been joked about on this board for a few years but LSU is LSU's own worst enemy.

Holy shite. fricking chinohyang said these exact things yesterday before this article came out.

It was in his Woodward will walk this back thread I believe.

Chinohyang may be this writer.

ETA:

NOT him, but a poster tried to draw these exact parallels to Rome yesterday in one of the threads discussing Woodward’s comments.

All the condescending brainy smarties butt hurt because they no longer have carte balnche access to the revenue generated by the jocks? Good! Down with the King.

Pretentious entitled foxes no longer guard the hen house.

All hail Woodward!

Sounds like F King is doing a terrible job. Maybe they should focus on the person not getting the job done and start asking questions.

All this whining and butthurt stems from the liberal ideology that is plaguing this nation.

Think like what? That education should be a priority at a college? How dare they!

Why does that responsibility fall on the shoulders of the athletic department? Why is hard for you to understand that the academic side has needed to get it’s shite together for years now? Why do they get a blank check?

That they’re entitled to money they had no hand in generating in the first place. That they’re so fricking stupid, they can’t even correctly interpret what the man said.
