According to this published schedule it doesn't look like a lot of practice time

and quite a bit of distractions (interviews) and free time for the team. Monday's practice is at 12:10 and they have interviews at 1:45 - that's a short practice.

Some of their time will be taken up by dance-off dinners and visiting hospitals. I would rather the team keep to its regular in-season schedule then go to the bowl a week early.

Here’s a quick look at the team’s practice and media schedule while in Atlanta:

MONDAY, DECEMBER 23

12:10 p.m. – Football Practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
• Closed to media

Approx. 1:45 p.m. – Coach Orgeron/2 Players post-practice media availability
• C Lloyd Cushenberry and DE Rashard Lawrence
• Hyatt Regency (International Ballroom North)

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 24

8:30 a.m. – Coordinators/3 Offensive and 3 Defensive Players Press Conference
• Hyatt Regency (International Ballroom North)
11:40 p.m. – Football Practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
• Open to media for first 15 minutes

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 25

11:40 a.m. – Football Practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
• Closed to media

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26

8:30 a.m. – LSU Media Day at Chick-fil-A Bowl
• Media Day located at College Football Hall of Fame
• 11:45 a.m. – Football Practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
• Open to media for first 15 minutes

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 27

9:30 a.m. – Joint Head Coaches Press
• Hyatt Regency (International Ballroom North)
4:45 p.m. – Football walk-thru at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
• Closed to media

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28

2:15 p.m. – Team departs hotel for Mercedes-Benz Stadium
2:28 p.m. – Team arrives at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
4:10 p.m. – Kickoff: LSU vs. Oklahoma

There's a practice everyday.

This late in the season, you aren't in need of constant drilling. It's just keeping fresh and maybe installing new plays.

They put in everything last week. Frankly, I'm surprised they are even in Atlanta so early. I thought the original plan, per O, was to give the players a few days off for Christmas. The fact that they are practicing at all on 12/24 and 12/25 is more than expected.

They typically go 90 minutes this late in the season. If O thinks they need more, they'll go more (hence the "approx" modifier)

There's a saying in marathon training that "the hay is in the barn." You're in your taper. When you're in the final stretch of your training it may feel like you're not doing enough but in actuality the preparation is done. You just do a little maintenance work and you're good.

That has to be an error. Doubt they are practicing at midnight.

The other team has to do the same routine so it’s not like it’s going to be a competitive disadvantage.

I think I shouldn’t have to say this but I probably do for some people. This schedule is not by LSU’s choice. It is forced on them by the bowl game. This happens every year in every bowl but since it’s a semifinal people are paying attention. If it was up to O and LSU they would practice in BR and fly to ATL Friday like a normal away game.

They had to go yesterday because of media obligations per The Advocate this morning. Orgeron didn't want to go until Tuesday.

Practices all week and a walk through on Friday looks legit to me also.

The other team has gone through this a few times already. I'm watching them play Georgia in the 2018 Rose Bowl playoff game right now.

Well, I suppose we could have skipped out on the playoffs and took a trip to a regular bowl game. Then our schedule could remain the same.

This schedule isn’t much different than LSU’s normal bowl games they have gone to.

It’s O and two players at 1:45, not the whole team.

Geez people.

Truth. We're not Aggies who have to practice how to yell.

They had to go this early.

They practiced Thursday morning and had off Fri, Sat and left Sunday, so players could go home to celebrate Christmas if they wish.

Can't complain about not making the playoffs, then complain about the requirements of being in the playoffs.
