The linebacker or nickel that the QB is reading is way more likely to play/read run if the QB is a threat to keep on the zone read.

an accurate thrower of the ball that has pocket presence is better for passing the ball.

What makes an RPO effective isn't just how mobile the QB is.

Our best offense ever which was fairly heavy RPO had Joe Burrow running it and nobody would confuse him with Cam Newton or Mike Vick as a ground attacker.

You can be highly effective with an RPO offense even with a not very mobile QB if they can make good reads on the RPO as well as make precise passes more than just simply pulling it and running it.

THE “R” IN RPO MEANS RUN FOR THE RUNNING BACK.

ZONE READ OPTION AND RPO ARE DIFFERENT PLAY CONCEPTS.

The defense doesn’t know what play is called, so if the nickel or linebacker has to respect the QB keep, he is more vulnerable.

OP has to be trolling. She even posted in the thread explaining RPO v zone read.

your title literally says a mobile QB is better for RPO when that has no significance for an RPO

The majority of CFB playoff teams throughout uga history have had mobile QB’s.

You can get around it by having an Alabama or UGA defense.

But that is what wins. Mobile QBs

The zone read and the RPO are two different play types.

Agreed, it’s like a big man that can shoot in basketball, yes it’s not necessary, but it’s certainly a benefit.

But the defense doesn’t know which play is called, the nickel the QB is reading is way more likely to play run if said QB can keep.

A good coach would see that and make an adjustment to make his zone that he is vacating the place where you throw the ball on the RPO.

A QB that can pass AND run is better than a QB that can't run. We have one right now that is very capable of both.

This is correct but it has nothing to do with your ability to run RPO’s

You're assuming that when an RPO is called, the coaches want to throw the ball? If the nickel or read player defends the pass, then just hand it off because you have blocking numbers. That's the beauty of the RPO. It's all about numbers and leverage.

No guys the qb either runs or passes..... haha seriously people think this.

It's wild you can give a safety a legit run read and put a post behind him.

You can run power one way, and with motion run triple option with a slant and orbit motion behind it. With a more traditional QB like Nuss or Brennan they work the throw. With guys like Daniels you can run QB read, and the orbit/slant option look. It's reallllllllly nasty.
