Long but awesome story from Tiger Rag on a day in Will Wade’s life.

LINK

Some highlights

quote:

Nunez, who played under Billy Donovan at Florida and is now the athletic director at New Mexico, is well-connected among college basketball coaching circles. “When we left,” Nunez says, “I had goosebumps. I turned to Joe, and I said, ‘Joe, everything about that guy – his demeanor, his mannerisms, the way he talks – everything reminds me of Billy Donovan.”

quote:

“This is just how I am,” Wade says. “I’m a little bit of a dreamer. I’m in the Superdome for the first (football) game with BYU. There’s 50,000 LSU folks in there. I’m thinking to myself, ‘You know, the Final Four is here in 2021. It’d be nice to be back.’ How cool would that be? Just that one thing would change the perception. We have 50,000 or 60,000 LSU fans there for the Final Four. And everybody would go, ‘Man, those people really care about basketball.’”

Like I said it’s pretty long but well worth the read. Pumped for the season opener tonight.

forgive me for not being too caught up on the basketball team. I'm really excited about this season and think the last place forecast is a joke. for tonights game though, are the two starters that didn't play last week playing or are they still out?

As long as it was, I thoroughly enjoyed reading that. Motivated me in my own life as much as it did to watch and follow lsu basketball!

The first time I heard him speak it reminded me of Nick Saban. No BS, just an unrelenting desire to win and do every little thing it takes to achieve that goal. Jones' teams did NONE of the little things well and Jones didn't care. That's why they were an inconsistent roller coaster for 5 years. You can't just bust your arse some of the time (like when Kentucky or Oklahoma comes to town).

Maybe it's just blind optimism, something I'm rarely accused of taking part in, but I really think LSU has found something in Wade.

I don't know a ton about hoops but have learned some stuff just hearing him talk. He's obviously smart and detail oriented. Mix in some good recruits and this thing should take off.
