That ring is awesome. Looking at it that close, I never realized the top is inside Tiger Stadium.

Good find

all he mentioned was he was in the Air Force. Went right after he graduated.

I'm sure he has some good stories and perspective to share. It would have been awesome to have met him when I was a cadet over 20 years ago. I bet no one in the AFROTC Det even knows he's out there. If he's interested in telling his story someone should get him in touch w the AFROTC staff. I bet they'd eagerly set it up.

Kenny Whitmann was an interior LB in the late '50s. I believe he told me he weighed 187 lbs when he transferred from Hines Jr College to LSU.

It's been over ten years, but he told me a great story when I met him. He was the building inspector in Pass Christian and he came to check some new foundation work after Katrina. He saw my LSU cap and asked if I was a football fan. I told him of course I was a football fan. He asked if I knew who Jimmy Taylor was. I laughed and told him yes, I knew who Jimmy Taylor was. He then went into a great story about not knowing who Taylor was until getting run over by him at his first practice. He was a really nice man and funny guy. He did a lot to help the Pass recover after Katrina. He passed away a couple of years ago, but will always be remembered by the people who met him.

The lower bowl of Tiger Stadium in the center of the ring is a nice touch.

Wouldn't the lower bowl have been pretty much all of Tiger Stadium in 1958?

Man, that is cool as hell! I met one of the linebackers from that team in the stadium during the Tennessee game last year....it was the highlight of the trip!
