1. OL. Since 2017 we have recruiting exactly 1 good OL. Damien Lewis who was a JUCO transfer. No one else has performed in a meaningful way. We need 2019 and 2029 guys to step up cause this ain’t it.

2. CB. This issue I just that we have NO ONE from the 2018 or 2017 classes. For a position that often plays 3-4 players you can’t got 2 years with 1 recruit like we did in 2017 and 2018z and our “correction” year in 2019
Involved 1 elite player and a couple
Of guys that need development.

3. DT. Between 2016 and 2020 this is what our recruiting looks like without NTs:

2017
Farrell 3*
Thomas 3* gone (maybe was a DE)

2018
Cotton 4* GONE
Hines 4* moved to OL
Rosenthal 4* moved to OL
Nelson Jenkins 3* just hanging out.

2019
Joseph Evan’s 3* playing but isn’t ready.

So we have currently have 3 DTs that we recruiting from 2017-2019 on the roster and they’re all 3 stars.

Looking at these groups, ezpciailly the issues between in 2017 and 2018 its clear how poor roster management, misses on the recruitment trial, attrition and poor evaluations and development have lead us here.

I mean you can’t just neglect a NT while also having run the 3-4

I mean I guess you can, but there’s an obvious reason as to why

i know the board love them some logan and farrell but they just aren’t that good especially for being upper classmen. they’re always getting pushed around

they wouldn’t be getting meaningful minutes at other big programs

there is a major weakness in the middle of the dline

We still needed DE type
Players. I’m just point this out. Also 0 of the NTs we recruited are currently on the team. So good on us.

It’s still not enough, but anyone who has given up on Thomas and Bradford already are fools. They were coming into year in the program this year two without a real off-season for development and Thomas was rehabbing a major injury. Year 3 is when you expect O Linemen to take over starting jobs on schedule. That’s next year, and with an actual off-season this year, hopefully they make that jump. Some of you are way to quick on the bust trigger.

We definitely gave gaps, but your leaving out the class coming in to help fill, and few guys at dt.

1. Spot on, kardell and Bradford need to hit by next year otherwise this year's oline will be better then next.

2. A healthy ward is actually playing pretty well, and flott just came off his best game. They had 100 yards passing with ricks playing 1 drive. Also have top 10 cb coming in, may get a commit from another top 10 in next few weeks, and have #1/2 safeties coming in, 1 of which plays nickel db role.

3. Leaving out 3 highly sought after freshnan roy, guillory, Taylor. Roy had his best game last night, and guillory has been dealing with ankle for most of the year. Taylor likely redshirting but will contribute next year as well.

If only there was someone in the coaching staff who was regarded as a good d line coach.

If only the OP didn’t leave out the entire freshman class of DTs

With this year not counting for eligibility, we really need some players to return.

Even players on the OL who aren’t playing great could improve significantly with a full offseason, like Shanahan.

I don't disagree with your premise, but if you look back... We fired our coach in 2016, then waited until the off-season to name O the hire, so the 17 class was kind of a wash. We sucked in 17, with losses to Troy, Coach O looked to be a terrible hire, we couldn't get any recruits. However he kept on mentioning that we were getting national interest from juniors and sophomores.... Well turns out he was right. We are finally stringing together great classes in 19, 20, and now hopefully 21. There are obviously holes in the roster, but we have also been shifting schemes on both sides which makes it more pronounced.

I think if we can get these top flight DLinemen in the 21 class, the defense can actually look good going forward. It's the offense, specifically offensive line and QB that I'm worried about going forward.

Lose 34 players in an offseason, including 20 to the nfl

Yea, there are some depth issues.

Genius.

Heinz and Rosenthal were always Oline targets. They were the ones that wanted to play DLine. So BS on that.

Cushion berry was a recruit. Ingram was all world as a freshman and last year.

Basically full of crap. D line recruiting lagged until last years class. Miles let the line of scrimmage talent go way down.

I think it was after O’s interim year we had more kickers than linebackers on the roster. Hit on a couple of LB recruits but after they left the cupboard looks bare.

We had depth issues either way.

Cotton didn’t leave because of the national championship.

We didn’t fail to recruit a 4* DT for four years because of the National Championship.

I left them out on purpose because they’re true freshmen playing a position that is difficult to play as a true freshmen

It’s not a good thing that Roy is our best DT

You can’t ignore/miss on a position for three years and expect a freshmen class to fix it.

We just signed 3 4 star dts and they are freshman on the team. Bama wanted 2 of them badly. 1 just had his best game, and should expect other 2 to be contributors in their 2nd years, if not down the stretch for guillory.

Great: we need to sign the more than every four years. We are suffering because our most talented DTs are true freshmen. That’s the issue.
