We are ridiculously deep at Defensive line this year with a lot of experienced older players as well as young stars. What do y’all see the 4 deep rotation like for 16/18 of these defensive lineman.

Here’s the list:
Glenn Logan 97 SR
Neil Farrell 92 SR
Justin Thomas 93 SR
Andre Anthony 46 SR
Travez Moore 49 SR
TK McLendon 84 RS JR
Soni Fonau 53 RS JR
Tyler Shelvin 72 JR
Ali Gaye 52 JR**
Jarell Cherry 55 RS SO
Nelson Jenkins 47 RS SO
Siaka Ika 62 SO
Desmond Little 59 RS FR
Ray Parker 85 RS FR
BJ Ojulari 8 FR*
Jaquelin Roy FR*
Jacobian Guillory FR*
Eric Taylor FR

My 3 deep rotation would probably be
Starters
DE Justin Thomas 93 SR
DT Tyler Shelvin 72 JR
DT Glenn Logan 97 SR
DE TK McLendon 84 RS JR

2nd string
DE Andre Anthony 46 SR
DT Neil Farrell 92 SR
DT Siaka Ika 62 SO
DE Jarell Cherry 55 RS SO

3rd string
DE BJ Ojulari 8 FR*
DT Nelson Jenkins 47 RS SO
DT Jaquelin Roy FR*
DE Travez Moore 49 SR

4th string
DE Soni Fonau 53 RS JR
DT Eric Taylor FR
DT Guillory FR*
DE Ali Gaye 52 JR**

* indicates Top 100 player in country
**juco transfer

This is why I’m excited for this upcoming season. We have a versatile Dline that can allow us to go run heavy or lighten up and get after the passer. The secondary will be nasty as well. It really will come down to 1 position and that’s LB. we have Clarke, Stevens, Brooks, Baskerville and the freshmen. Does Brooks remain at LB or do we use him somewhere else? We need to find a way to keep Brooks and Stevens on the field together at all times. Those 2, plus Clarke, give us an opportunity to blitz from so many different parts of the field.

We are beyond deep at DT. A lot of unknowns at DE. Looks to me like the biggest weakness on the team, but I wouldnt say its a liability. Some could argue LB, but there is more potential star power there.

With that said, I hope we get to see it happen.

Agreed. Little experience but Justin Thomas, TK, Andre Anthony, soni Fonau all have 4 years of college experience. Jarell cherry, Ali Gaye with 3 years.... surely these guys step up and make impacts just because of their age advantage and practice experience. I think these guys are gonna man handle any teams with less experienced guys starting at tackle and guard. Not even worried about DT.

5 DL of that 2016 team are now in the NFL crazy. I bet 4 years from now we will be saying the same thing, maybe more like 6-8

I'll say a couple things about this: Ali Gaye WILL make an impact in year 1, I think Andre Anthony will start over McKlendon - but I do think TK will also make an impact this year, and MY GOD we are loaded.

I agree with you 100% what you said. I only put TK cause of what Coach O says but Anthony should be the starter. Kinda like Farrell.. most productive DL last year statisitcally, but where do you put him? Also don’t know where else to put Ali bc of so much depth.

You left out Ray Thornton who is supposed to play will linebacker, with Damone Clark at the mike linebacker spot, and Micah Baskerville at the sam linebacker spot.

I'm hoping Jabril Cox also commits and transfers to LSU as well and becomes the starter at will linebacker with Ray Thornton backing him up.

As that would probably mean that Marcel Brooks would be moved to safety.

According to Cody Worsham, Jacoby Stevens wanted to stay at safety and didn't want to move to the will linebacker spot. As the coaches didn't want to force him to play the will linebacker spot cause he came back for his senior season. Which is why Marcel Brooks was moved to the will linebacker spot.

Why? Ed O praised Ray Parker and TK McClendon after that intrasquad game they played during the second open date and said they should both be strong contributors in 2020.

Now since that press conference, I haven't heard Ed O say anything about Ray Parker ever again since, but I have heard him talk enthusiastically about TK McClendon on numerous occasions.
