2019 is really shaping up for our chances of an SEC championship

Obviously it is way early but 2019 is so far shaping up to honestly having a legitimate chance to win the SEC west and play for an SEC and National championship next year.
First our schedule is set up to be very favorable for LSU, right now the only games that LSU should not be favored to win is just Bama, Texas around game time the line might favor Texas being in Austin, but that being said that should be it.
We are losing the least amount of early entry names in the past 6 years which is huge. Keeping those players draft eligible on the roster is literally like adding a productive grad transfer that already knows your system so there is zero time wasted on getting them up to speed on our system. It isn't like adding a recruit because they will only be with us for another year.
This is more important than anyone thinks, Bama is losing the most draft eligible players they have ever had and everyone is a key starter. That is bigger than you think, your key opponent has to replace starters that were key to their success is a big time help for our chances of beating them. And as the last 7 years have shown the road to the SEC championship in the west still goes through Tuscaloosa.
On offense we are losing Foster "big loss obviously both on leadership and play" and Brumfield both are going to be missed but considering we get every skill player back and can upgrade the backfield this is HUGE.
On defense if you haven't seen the early look on defense, even though we are losing arguably the top corner back in college football along with the top linebacker in college football, our defense is going to be nasty in 2019 and could challenge to be the top unit in college football next year and if not top it will definitely be in the top 5 with the players we have on board and what is coming in along with Aranda it will be our strength again and defense wins championships, you don't have to look past Clemson to see that. Their defense shut down the best offense in the SEC and it wasn't even close. Here is a look at the defensive depth chart for next year and if this doesn't get you fired up to watch our defense just go wreck havoc on opposing teams next year, then go play with your dolls because you ain't a Tiger fan!!!

And last but certainly not least when the dust settles on Feb 7th, 2019 our LSU Tigers will have the number 3 ranked recruiting class in the country with players that will make an immediate impact that will help fill holes for a championship caliber team. Stingley slides into Greedy's position without much "if any" drop off, Thomas will find a home on the o-line and will be a beast, Davis & Emory will help our RB core improve on an uncharacteristic for LSU this past year. And something that should not be lost on LSU fans is that Coach Oeaux has patched up and re-built that wall around the state of Louisiana which is just in time because now having Saban on one side of us and Fisher on the other side, we need a strong wall around the state or LSU would have sunk into mediocrity!!!!!!!
Make no mistake about it as far as LSU football goes, it is a great time to be a Tiger and to watch LSU Football.

I don't know if I really buy into to this next year U stigma. Couldn't you say that about every competitive school not named Clemson and Alabama?

This teams success will be determined by the performance of the O line. We have all the other pieces.

Sorry but not beating Bama in Bama with LSU’s current offensive scheme.

Best team we’ve fielded since 20011

Have an upvote. I’m buying in. They are doing it.

We don’t have a big time WR or a proven RB either. It usually takes a while for a freshman RB to adjust to the speed of the game so I wouldn’t be counting on Emery just to step in and start ripping up defenses.

All it takes is our big uglies being competitive with everyone else’s big uglies. Burrow,Delpit, Emery, Stingley, Chase, and Jefferson will figure out the rest. Thats it. Thats all its ever been.
We stopped being a contender when we stopped having quality depth in the trenches. Looking at the 2019 roster, we have quality depth in the trenches. No excuses we need to improve on a bounce back 2018 season.

This. We will be inexperienced and thin at CB. Not sure who will start at RB (Helaire isn't the answer) The O-line will be mediocre at best. YES, we have depth on the O-line, but it'll be young and inexperienced depth. The DL has potential, but NT will be a head scratcher.. Especially if TS isn't conditioned to play much.
I hope you're right, but I'm thinking it'll be another 2 years or so before we're ready to make a serious run.

Yes we do. Chase is going to go off and put up some crazy #s next season. Foreshadowing in bowl game of what's coming from him.

Heartily agree. Chase is absolutely insane with his catches. I'm looking forward to seeing him and Jefferson out there.

And don't sleep on Marshall either.

And Anderson seems to make a catch when he has to. Not a knock on the kid but it seems when defenses are keying on the main receivers, he shows up and makes them pay. Which is a good thing.
