I have to say, this is the 1st time in over 20 years that i am so very 'meh' about the RBs that are on board. dont get me wrong, i hope Brossette, CEH, and the new kid coming in excel, but it just seems like a downer from the likes Kevin Faulk, Diesel, Rondell, LaBrandon, DD, Addai, Vincent, Broussard, Hester, Chuck the Truck, KW, Ridley, Ware, Hillard, and of course Hill, Fournette and Guice.

can anyone help?

This string of running backs should give you all the confidence you need that we will be just fine.

I def understand everyone's anxiety because we don't have the workhorse stud coming back that will be on the drink cups in tiger stadium (yet). But the guys back there work incredibly hard and were recruited for their talents.

Thats the long way of saying we comin, we comin.

Hester, Ridley and Ware were all pretty mediocre here going by numbers, don't think it's as unprecedented territory as it's being made out to be, it's just not much experience.

Why? Just putting on the uniform and playing the same position doesn't mean you'll be good. We're DBU but that didn't mean Danny McCray could cover.

Going into 2007 Hester was the leading returning RB with ~450 yards in 2006. Williams, Scott and Murphy had the recruiting hype, but really didn't do much the year before.

We as LSU fans have been spoiled for the last 5 years. Hill was in the backfield going into '13. In '14-'16 Fournette was there and going into last season Guice was thought of as one of the top 5 RBs in college football.

LSU has experienced these lulls before (and still had great offenses). It's just been a while since we have. Maybe this will force a more aggressive and wide open offense out of necessity

I think Brossette, Clyde, and Chris Curry will be a good group. Won't blow you away but they'll be solid. We will just pass it around a little more next year since our most talented guys on offense are probably in the WR group

Since 1995, at least one LSU RB that has played in the NFL. In 1994 we had Robert Toomer and Jermaine Sharpe and neither sniffed the NFL and we have to go back to 1990 with Harvey Williams to find another NFL back, so from 1991 to 1994 those LSU backs never played in the NFL?

I just can't believe we didn't pick up a five star running back in last year's recruiting class or this year's recruiting class. Especially after fournette and guice. Obviously we can put them in the NFL and have their name in the spotlight

This will sound pretty dumb, but i kind of like having a crew of decent RBs this next year and not one of the best RBs in the country. At least we won't be running the majority of our plays to that elite RB and have all teh good Defenses shut him down (i.e. Bama, UF).

This will make us focus on the passing game more next year, spread out with 3 to 5 WR sets, which will open up the running game. Anyone can run through an open seam if play action or RPO is working.

I am looking forward to SE offense. Also very excited about the new O-Line coach.

All I'm implying is that for stretching back more than a decade we have been more than solid at the RB position. The young guys and back ups have learned and grown under these guys year in and year out, and have stepped up and got the job done. That is not suddenly going to change.

Brossette and CEH will do just fine next year. They have a ton of natural ability and have learned work ethic, toughness and how to prepare from guys like Fournette and Guice.

Will they be Heisman contenders - probably not. But I strongly doubt at the end of next season we're here talking about how our RBs were the reason we didn't make the playoffs.

I'm excited about the O-line, I am therefore optimistic about the running game.

That's just happened at the WR position.

Well, I agree we have bigger problems than RBs.

Right, I failed to mention that. Stability upfront will be a huge contributing factor to consistency/success in the running game.

Comparing Apples to Oranges. Its imperative to have solid QB play for continued WR success. The same is not true for RBs. If the O-Line continues to improve, it wont matter who is handing the ball off to have consistency in the running game.

inb4 a passing game is the biggest help to a running game. Fournette ran against a stacked box every game and still found success.

The sad reality of LSU football right now... We will persevere! I am trying to manage my expectations better as the years pass us by.

Yeah but it's not like Etling was dramatically worse than the QBs our WRs have been dealing with for a decade(minus Mett). The falloff at WR wasn't on the QB.

I just hope one or two can catch a screen/swing pass and that all of them can block on play action. The o-line will make the rest happen.
