I figure he would know if Dawson is transferring.
Not so sure about that. That is a quiet, private group. From what I know neither the player or the father has much of anything to say to anyone. He is not the mingling type and I've never seen him sit with or speak to any other parent at a game. I'd be very surprised if any situation had been discussed with anyone outside of the core group of supporters.
The only reason I would figure he would know would be via his own daughter, who would certainly know who else is transferring....parents may not talk, but girls sure do!
And I guess I am as guilty as the rest about speculating as to things that are not "official". May as well wait til something "official" comes from LSU.

Truth is, and what kind of pushed me away from coaching, is that there were always those who felt they didnt get enough playing time. Since this was 13 and 14 year old boys, it was often their parents that were complaining.
I don't think that changes in college. I think it is pretty clear through some of the stuff that we have read on this very forum that parents can still be heavily involved at the college level, also...or at least adults that are close to the player.

I dont know how it works in college softball, but I'd get as many players in the games as I could.
No participation trophies in big-time college softball. You play to win the game, play who you think is best, and let the rest sort itself out after the season.
LSU had 21 players on its roster this past year. Of that group, Thymes didn't play due to injury (though she really only would be used as a PR anyway). That leaves 20. Of the 20, 3 saw what I would consider to be almost zero playing time: Loupe, Savoie, and Cunningham. 2 others saw little significant time (Satchell, who had 24 AB and Weinberger, who had only 9 AB, but who was the primary pinch runner)
Obviously, Savoie was happy with her place on the team since she almost never saw the field and was on the team for 4 years.
Apparently Loupe is happy with her role as she is a junior who has played very little.
As for playing time and keeping everyone relatively happy, I think 15 may be close to the optimal number, but even that could be argued if you think that Dawson and Smith left (or may be leaving) due to a perceived lack of playing time. And I would argue that you need a couple more than 15 so you can have a legit intra-squad practice/game.
Every program needs kids like Savoie and Loupe and I guarantee that they are HARD to find. They are basically practice players who know they won't get into the games, but still put in all the hard work the regulars do.
So for the tl;dr crowd, these days it is hard to keep more than 15 players happy, but you need about 18 or so to be able to practice, therefore you need a few Loupe's and Savoie's.
Makes you wonder how Lotief keeps his 30+ kids that he stuffs his roster with happy...I guess they know what they are getting into going in.

Well, you play to win, but a lot of coaches will put in reserves if they feel they have the game locked up. Its more than just throwing the reserves a bone, it makes them feel, as they should, that they are a part of the team, and it gives them experience.
Throwing Gorsuch out there in the WCWS, you know what Beth was doing.
Suppose Serret gets hurt.. we havent seen anyone else play SS in two seasons. Same with Catcher... I'd play as many as i could.. not for a trophy but to give them experience and let them feel they are part of the team.

Syndey Bourg is a good player, as is Corbello, and they left, and I hope they found happiness at Nicholls/Mcneese State.
they did at least from what i have seen. I saw way more of bourg than baylee and her Dad/family though.

I am "speculating" as another poster said we shouldn't, haha, but when Serrett was hurt and the staff moved Sanchez to SS and even put Jaquish there instead of Dawson I would think the writing on the wall was pretty clear as it relates to her future. I can't imagine any player would respond or react to that type of situation without serious questions going through the mind.

Yeah it was like a cliffhanger. We wanted to see who got sent out there. I was thinking Doyle. Maybe she is not fast enough.

Wait. When was all of this?

I really like Doyle whenever she played SS before. She really is a true plug and chug on the defense.
I'm excited to see how Doyle does this summer with Team USA. It'll be a great experience for her

I think when Serret got hurt, they made the changes to adjust but before the next pitch was thrown, Serret had recovered, and no change was needed.

I have opinions on this team, and any others I follow, but as anyone of you here, I'd never approach a coach with them on this staff or any other. They are not concerned with what us fans think.

You have an agenda, or biased, and come across unprofessional. It appears "in the know" was banned....that was probably educote
Posted on 6/8/17 at 2:30 pm to Dbtig
I'm sorry it appears that way. The only agenda I have is for the program to win, same as the rest of our programs. I do know someone who knows someone in this particular field, but that doesn't really matter. It sort of allows me to weed through the speculation on this board but that's it.

Ahh ok. I was wondering. I never even saw anything about it. Where do people see stuff like this?
Posted on 6/8/17 at 2:45 pm to Jennlsu
I guess they were at the game. I watched on TV and didnt now they had sent a replacement out there for Serret. You could not see it... from the tv. People at the game must have seen it.
Posted on 6/8/17 at 3:02 pm to Bhs83
I guess so bc I was wondering how they knew this. It all changed quickly if that was the case

Here's another one with supposed information from their BFF's 7th cousin removed from the in law's adopted uncles named Mark and Eric...
Heresay is what we are getting upset over... just shut up and let things play out.

Heresay and friends/family of players who are upset that little Susie didn't play because they KNOW she is better. I get it, I had a daughter that was really good, made varsity as 8th grader and did well. We transferred due to work, and while she made the varsity there too as a 9th grader, she sat the bench except PR and a couple at bats. This team was worse than the team she came from...by far...but that coach already had her favorites....we never said a word....but did transfer out. It happens...but bitching and moaning does no good and actually hurts the team.
