I saw that on their respective social medias but not from LSU. As far as I know, Nicky doesn't have social media so who would announce it?

A lot of people are friends with her family, If it is true a team spokesman will make a statement I'm sure.

So...what transfers do we have incoming?

What kind of message does it send to prospective players if Beth benches a senior to make a freshman happy?
You don't bench anyone to make another happy. You bench someone to play the better player. Classification has nothing to do with it.
quote:
Tigerbait357 Would be a shame if she did, to me transferring because of lack of play as a freshman would be kinda weak.
You have no idea what you are talking about. All Dawson did was finish with a top 3 OBP, top 5 Average and was top 4 on team in steals. Your failure to recognize the obvious magnifies your bias and you continue to deflect the sub par play of Sanchez by insinuating she would be better at the position she was moved from after being beat out by both Quinn and Dawson last fall. Remember, Sanchez asked to be moved from 2nd because she knew she was not as good as the other 2 at that position.
IF Dawson leaves (I have no idea) it will not be because of playing time this season but because she is smart enough to know she does not have a future at LSU and she has decided to take an alternative route. Respect her for that if she decides to go.
quote:
Tigerbait357 Also that last at bat was ridiculously alarming and everyone knows it.
What is alarming is your pure blindness to many things that have transpired. So one at bat is more alarming than having the worst infield in the league? It's more alarming than a 230 hitter in the 5 hole that had more multi error games than multi hit games.
I have not heard one comment from any non-starter this off season. All of the drama mentioned on this thread and others has come from the star players and the starters. You can say this happens on every team, it does not. Satchell, Cunningham, Dawson, Thornhill? None of these non-starters have said or done anything yet this board acts like the drama comes from their lack of playing time. It's a false narrative.

I haven't heard anything official at all, but the wheels are moving right now all over college softball. I would think we would add someone considering we didn't sign all of our recruiting class (didn't sign Martinez)
We lost Satchell and Smith
Those are the only official ones right now but I've been hearing we were looking junior college route as well.
if we do add people we should find out within this coming month.
A lot of these things have been in the making for some time but it's usually kept hush hush

Mulerider.......
in your post.. you attributed to me things that someone else said. Yes i made the comment about benching a senior.....
The comment about someone leaving because of lack of play as a freshman...
THOSE ARE NOT MY WORDS..neither are the quotes that follow..

I know they are not your words. Didn't mean to insinuate they were. I just bunched the thoughts together after reading much of this nonsense. Fixed it for you.

Those who talked about discord, I dont know where they get their information from, i know nothing about that kind of thing.
I'd leave for lack of playing time as a freshman if i really thought I should be starting. Players transfer out, and in, its just the way it all works.

Do transfers have to sit out a year in softball?
Posted on 6/7/17 at 11:50 pm to Jennlsu
On the Ultimate College Softball message board, a poster who is very clearly Satchell's dad posted that Smith, Satchell, and Dawson are transferring in a "transfers" thread. I figure he would know who is in and out.
He posted using the handle "parent" and has a grand total of 5 posts.
About a month ago he posted this:
Then yesterday he posted:
Then about 5 hours ago, he chimed in with this:
The poster "Parent" didn't mention any other school in his 5 posts and Satchell is the only one of the three who is a catcher, so one could put 2+2 together and assume he is in the Satchell camp. I figure he would know if Dawson is transferring.

Someone answered that question earlier in this thread... i believe if you are transferring to a team that is in the same conference, you have to sit out. If the team you are transferring to is NOT in the same conference, you do not have to sit out.

I wish those leaving the best of luck, and I believe all three are going to do well. I believe Sydney Smith is going to be All-American by the time she graduates. Nicky is going to to be something like Chevanne, a .400 hitter with blazing speed. Satchell can hit, we all have seen that. Its a shame she and Nicky didnt get to bat four times a game, I pinch hit for a while when injured, and batting once a game was not easy.
Best of luck to those three girls.

Thanks. I agree with one of your earlier posts about Beth taking some of these teams about as far as they could go, including this team.
I'm a little concerned about our chances going forward. I know these young players will get better, but it doesn't appear our freshmen and sophomore class are as talented as our senior class this year and last year. I don't know much about our recruiting class, so hopefully they will help.

Got damn it! Spot on
All these "bench players" did was work, and work and hope. Some finally recognized they will never get a fair shot, period.

You sound like one of "those" parents. Cancer to a program. Your kid should be playing...blah blah

Not so sure about that. That is a quiet, private group. From what I know neither the player or the father has much of anything to say to anyone. He is not the mingling type and I've never seen him sit with or speak to any other parent at a game. I'd be very surprised if any situation had been discussed with anyone outside of the core group of supporters.
Let's hope for the best for all involved.

I can't believe this actually happens in a college sport! If I were coach that'd be the first kids with walking papers. Can you imagine a parent going to Nick Saban with that kind of drama, lol

I often wonder, other than scholarship amount, what incentives a recruiter offers someone to try to coax them into committing to the school.
Play time? A starting position?
It surely isnt wrong to leave due to lack of playing time, if one feels she is good enough to play, and doesnt get any or many chances?
If you go through the Bios in the roster section, Cunningham's playing time lessened each year.
She thought it was best to stay, and she did. No complaints.
Others want to play, and if it means going elsewhere, so be it. Syndey Bourg is a good player, as is Corbello, and they left, and I hope they found happiness at Nicholls/Mcneese State.
I tried to play as many players as I could, when I coached, and played all 15 of my players on the roster. The rule was you had to play at least 11 players, if you had less than eleven, all had to plAY, of course.
Truth is, and what kind of pushed me away from coaching, is that there were always those who felt they didnt get enough playing time. Since this was 13 and 14 year old boys, it was often their parents that were complaining.
I had one kid who was a good basketball player, but horrible in baseball. I played that kid three innings per game, and the guy in front of him played four. The guy in front of him was GOOD, eventually went on to high school and did very well.
Wasnt good enough for the reserve's parents. "Why not let our son play four innings and the other boy play three innings?' I told them the other boy was a better baseball player. I couldnt wait for that season to end.
I dont know how it works in college softball, but I'd get as many players in the games as I could.
If you are going to point out that the starters are owed due respect, even when they struggle, then acknowledge the reserves who practice their butts off hoping they will get playing time, just a little.,,,they deserve respect too.
When hope is lost, its time to move on. I think that is what happens, and transferring is a common move in college sports. It doesnt make the departing player a traitor.

There are always promises for a real opportunity...and that's where a lot of the hard feelings come from, when the promise isn't kept.
