They both lose a lot of money.

We should be doing better. The AD needs to do a better job of promoting and a plan for the PMAC needs to be in place. It gets old watching games and seeing every stadium in the SEC make the PMAC seem like a lifeless cave

Yeah, let’s start paying players. Watch how the profits dry up and almost every woman’s college teams will fold.

Getting paid for their likeness =/= as schools paying players. Keep up

How on earth do you lose $4 million to WBB? I don't care if they loose money, but $4 million is silly.

You are a fool if you think that the same people pushing this through legislatures in California and in congress on a national level are gonna miss out on a chance to grandstand when it comes out that male collegiate athletes are cashing in whereas the females are making little to nothing. If it goes through within 5 years that’s going to be the next “ill that must be remedied”

I’m talking about college and replying to the poster talking about name image and likeness legislation. Today it’s NIL and the schools aren’t directly paying. Tomorrow its “its unjust that the male qb is making all this money while the female soccer player gets nothingthe schools must remedy this!”

So...did you buy tickets to support W Basketball? Have you supported them in any way? Having a strong program in any sport is expensive. Football pays for pretty much everything. I know baseball turns a profit, but most sports don't. I assure you Woodward wants to make money on sports and be strong in all sports at the same time. But it is difficult.

No, look to women's college hoops. Not one program makes money, no, not one.

Damn thought baseball would profit a mill or two a year....we lead the nation n attendance and few baseball programs have the fan base & support that LSU does.

I attended LSU women’s basketball games vs Tenn when LSU was winning. Winning is what solves attendance problems.

I don’t think the men’s basketball number is correct. In previous years its been closer to $2 million. The tv contract alone gives basketball a ton of money.

Baylor starting to be a pimple on our arse. Time to send a message, like throwing a ton of money at Kramer's mom, their NC WBB Coach! LOL

If you doubt the basketball numbers take it up with The Advocate writer Brooks Kubena.

While LSU has a few of the SEC's most prestigious alumni like Pete Maravich and Shaquille O'Neal, the program has made the NCAA Tournament only twice in the last decade. Subtracting expenses, LSU made $1.93 million on basketball

Men's basketball also yielded an increased profit margin, nearly doubling from $292,921 in 2017-18 to $453,022. The $9.5 million spent on the sport was higher than any other sport other than football at LSU, with increased spending on assistant coach salaries ($503,476) and team travel ($165,979).

I don’t get where these numbers are from because this advocate article has much different numbers

quote:

The Tigers won 10 games in 2016-17 and fired coach Johnny Jones. The team’s profit of $1.6 million last year marked a 31 percent drop from 2015-16, a 19-win season in which current NBA rookie Ben Simmons played.

LINK

I have trouble believing that we made over 1 million dollars less in a year that we won the SEC compared to Johnny Jones’ last year

Makes me question the math on one of these articles
