The Diesel was fun to watch. I hated it when he injured his leg at Vandy. Beginning of the end for him at LSU. He ran so hard.

Probably the most disappointing LSU team (considering the expectations and roster) of the last 25 years. They returned so many key players...before guys like Foster and Collins got kicked off the team. Then, Lou Tepper torpedoed the team and Dinardo's LSU tenure. So much promise, then a massive implosion.

Yep, went from being #7 in the country to a 4-7 season.

Great offense that year.

The worst LSU defense I’ve ever witnessed.

Broke my heart! I never enjoyed watching a guy run as much as I did the diesel. The way he man-handled Miss State and Auburn was just shocking.

And some players/RBs did not get used the way they should have.

Such a promising season until freshman QB, Quincy Carter dismantled the defense. It all went to shite from there.

God what a fricking bummer that season was. Just brutal and gut wrenching every week.

Results-wise, sure. But the expectations weren't there in '99 like they were in '98.

Taking out Collins:

Faulk/Mealey > Fournette/Guice

Am I being crazy?

Probably biased because Mealey was my guy. Loved watching him play.

Did you go to the Indy Bowl v. ND? He absolutely dominated the second half, fun to watch.

Gerry was more of an I-bone guy. that was his 3 back offense at Colorado and Vandy. we'd occasionally run it in goal line. I gotta think he was ready to break it out more extensively in 98.
