2 Seed Makes the Most Sense to Advance
Posted by ScottAndrew

If LSU gets a 2, the competition in the regional will be the same as if we hosted. The potential super would be an easier path to Omaha relative to being one of the last 1-2 hosts. This particular team has played well on the road this year.
This thread is not intended to be a debate on whether we host. Rather, just to point out the path makes more sense to not host given our circumstance

As much as I’d love to host
I agree with you. Might give us a little fire too knowing we weren’t selected to host

You’d much rather be a two somewhere than be the last host spot and have to try to beat Tennessee at their place in a Super.

That worked for us last year really well, didn't it?

This team plays much better on the road for some reason. A 2 seed is what we should all want.

They not going to advance wether they a 1 or 2 seed

I agree with the thought here. Also depends on where we go as a 2 seed.
I think on the broadcast today, there was that debate. Do you want to host and possibly help you advance to SR where you could be facing a team you’d rather play in Omaha.

I don’t agree, we win our regional and the other team loses and we play in Baton Rouge all the way to Omaha. Anything can happen in baseball and there are always upsets in regionals

Maybe they should field better, it isn’t the committee’s fault

As a bubble host team, we are more likely to be placed in the 15 or 16 seed Regional (if they are close by us) as opposed to the 8, 9, or 10 Seed Regional which makes it just as tough - especially if we are in the 16 seed Regional. If someone like Texas, Texas Tech, or Southern Miss gets that 16 seed (or even 15), don't be surprised if we end up there.

In which case we would still have to beat Tenn, just like last year.

Feels like we have more LH to take advantage of the short porch in Right in Tennessee this year.

Why does everyone just assume LSU won’t be placed in the 15 or 16 seed’s regional. If they don’t host they will be one of the higher 2 seeds so if the 15 or 16 seed is a west coast team I wouldn’t be shocked if they send LSU there.
The one certain is if LSU does not host they are going to the west coast. The committee has shown that’s what they will do.

In theory, the lowest 1 seed should face the highest 2; 16 vs 17, 15 vs 18 etc. If LSU is truly right on the bubble, they could be paired with the Tennessee regional either way: as the last host, or the highest 2 seed. The only difference would be, they don't host the regional to begin with.
With as much speculation on LSU hosting, I don't think they're going to be sent to one of the higher seeds. I doubt they get sent to the #11 or #12 seeds. If they don't host, they probably go to #14 or below.

quote:Yeah, that's the thing I'm guessing at. LSU is either going to host the 15th or 16th seed, or be the 2 seed at one of those regionals. Either way, they get paired up with a tough Super Regional opponent, but in one scenario at least they host the Regional round.

We're not going to the 8-9 pairing.

I really like baseball America projection
LSU in South Bend paired with chapel hill regional Georgia is 2 seed at Carolina
