I don’t think analytics take into account momentum. I believe that when they’re against the ropes go for the knockout

there would need to be some situational variable in the equation.

We already had special teams issues, I had no faith in the STs.

100% chance you would be making this thread had Kelly gone for 2 and not got it.

You now have the gift of hindsight. It was 100% wrong to kick the extra point, because we now know it got blocked.

Not with how our defense was playing. Our O look liked it would’ve found a way to get 2 yards

We essentially converted a 2pt try when we scored the TD, chances of doing it again also take the percentages down

Nope. LSU scored on their last three possessions. You kick the point and go to OT. You don’t gamble it all on one play when you have the momentum. Coach did right. It didn’t work. That’s life.

And if we didn’t get it you’d be saying the opposite

They actually came up with some big stops late that kept us in the game.

In the middle of the field, maybe, but not at the goal line with the field shrunk. You’d have to assume Denbrock dialed up our best play from that distance on the touchdown, and it still took Daniels finding his 3rd read. The odds of that happening again were not as good imo as us kicking it and winning in OT. Their defense was gassed in the 4th quarter. But, we’ll obviously never know.

Yeah, 2 point conversion plays are tough. Generally <50% success rate.

It’s really easy to say we should have gone for 2 with the benefit of hindsight. In the moment I would have kicked as well. We scored touchdowns on the previous three drives and their defense was gassed. FSU was coming off of two 3 & out possessions - one of which started on our 8 yard line. If it goes to overtime I feel like really good at that point.

You go for 2 in that scenario when you don’t think you can win in overtime.

I honestly wouldn't of been mad at either decision had we not gotten it. For some reason before it was kicked, it just felt too good to be true

I originally thought going for two was better but with no threat of a RB at all I think it makes it a tougher conversion.

It really is just a personal decision. There is no right or wrong answer here on that decision

Trust me. It it goes wrong you'd get second guessed no matter what

Appalachian St had even more momentum in their game against UNC. They went for two and failed. TWICE.

I wanted to see LSU go for 2. The reason is because you have the ball at the 2 yard line with a chance to win the game right there without FSU getting a possession. If you go to OT the ball is at the 25 and the opponent is going to get a possession. Plus, your QB had just driven the ball 99 yards, almost unstopped, in just over a minute. Even without the benefit of hindsight, I thought the scenario warranted going for two. FSU had given you a gift with the fumble …take full advantage

Did they make the XP on the first TD?
