1994 Kentucky vs LSU
Is on ESPN Classic. I still have no idea how LSU blew a 31 point lead with 15:00 left.

Absolutely, he was an assistant coach during a good bit of Dale’s era.

Blank look on the bench? Check.

With 15 minutes to go had lsu gone down and just let the shot clock expire every single possession i doubt uk could have come back from 31 down. Was unbelievable.

I like LSU-UK 1988 in Lexington better. LSU won 76-41 to give UK their biggest home (in Rupp) loss ever.

No a great X's and Os in offense but a great coach and motivator and developer of Ds.

educate yourself.

Also, see the ESPN special "Shaq and Dale", you will learn a lot about the man....and the reason why team with Jackson Roberts and Shaq did not win more.

----------------------
He is the only SEC coach to have ever appeared in 15 straight national tournaments and only 11 coaches in NCAA history have made more consecutive NCAA appearances (10). Only the legendary Adolph Rupp of Kentucky has won more games in SEC history. Brown and Rupp are the only SEC coaches that had 17 consecutive non-losing seasons. Only 4 coaches in the SEC have won more conference championships, Adolph Rupp, Joe Hall, Tubby Smith, and Billy Donovan.

Only seven coaches in the SEC have led their teams to two Final Fours or more while coaching SEC teams. They are Dale Brown, John Calipari, Billy Donovan, Joe B. Hall, Rick Pitino, Nolan Richardson, and Adolph Rupp.

On nine occasions Brown was selected as the SEC Coach of the Year or Runner-Up. He was twice chosen as the National Coach of the Year. In a 10-year span from 1977–1986, LSU is the only school to finish in the first division of the SEC. He has the distinction of beating Kentucky more than any coach in the nation. 110 of 160 of his players received their college degrees. He is a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. In 2004, he was inducted as an SEC Living Legend. In 2010, the Tiger Rag, the Bible of LSU sports, ranked Brown in the top 5 of the most influential people in LSU athletics history.

In 1982, Brown coached the West team in the College All-Star game, defeating the Bob Knight-coached East team, 102-68. In 1990, he coached the South team in the National Olympic Festival, winning the gold medal over the Lon Kruger-coached North team, 95-94.

During Brown's era basketball rose to a level that no one could have ever possibly imagined. LSU holds the record for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th largest paid attendance for a regular season game in college basketball history.

1-20-90 Superdome - 68,112 - LSU 87 Notre Dame 64
1-28-89 Superdome - 66,144 - LSU 82 Georgetown 80
1-03-92 Superdome - 61,304 - LSU 84 Texas 83
Legendary coach John Wooden and Billy Packer, CBS television analyst, have paid Coach Brown wonderful tributes about his career at LSU.

Wooden said, "Dale did an outstanding job in raising the level of LSU basketball to the status of equality to anyone in the country. Also, if heads of states throughout this troubled world of ours had real concern and consideration for others as Dale Brown, I doubt if our racial, religious, and political problems would be a major issue."[this quote needs a citation]

Packer stated, "Dale Brown is one of those rare individuals who has the ability to take on the toughest of tasks regardless of the odds against success and come out a winner. He has proven to be one of college basketball's best and a fine coach and man."[this quote needs a citation]

They were returning the favor for us blowing them out by 35 at RUPP in 1987. That will NEVER happen again.

re: 1994 Kentucky vs LSU
I’m definately not a Brown apologist but let’s be fair, regardless if he was a good Xs and Os coach he accomplished more than most coaches ever will. This game in particular probly sounded the alarm that the game had passed him and it was time for him to retire. We still had decent classes in those last few years but he failed to address certain aspects of building teams with each of them. For example Randy and Ronnie’s class should’ve had enough talent to at least be competitive teams but we were winning like 11 and 12 games with those guys. Brown was great for LSU basketball and it’s sad that it ended in the midst of a phony scandal.

We hit every shot we took in the 1st half. They hit every shot they took in the 2nd half. Its pretty amazing that we had a 31 point lead In the first place

You've posted here long enough. No college forum in America has "fans" who live to take cheap shots at the team/program like this one.

re: 1994 Kentucky vs LSU
Dale Brown got it in his head that he was going to run up the score on Kentucky, and even when it became obvious that it was working to Kentucky's favor he refused to slow the game down.

If he'd started working the clock when he was up 31, it's an easy win.

Edit: When looked at with the Auburn football game, 1994 was a bad year for LSU athletics.

I was at this game, first date with a girl no less. People either left or didn't show up and some how we were sitting right behind the bench for most of the game. Knew she wasn't the one after the loss.
