WINS
MSU - Up 3-2 after 6, win 8-3
UK - Up 7-5 after 7, win 8-6
SC - Up 2-0 after 6, win 5-1
OM - Down 4-2 after 6, win 5-4
OM - Up 2-1 after 8, win 7-2

LOSSES
MSU - Down 2-1 after 6, lose 6-1
MSU - Down 1-0 after 7, lose 3-0
Tenn - Down 2-1 after 6, lose 3-1
Tenn - Up 8-7 after 8, lose 9-8 in 11
Tenn - Tied 2-2 after 7, lose 3-2 in 8
Vandy - Tied 3-3 after 6, lose 5-4
UK - Down 5-3 in 7th, lose 13-4
SC - Up 2-0 after 6, lose 4-2
OM - Tied 9-9 after 8, lose 10-9

1 win over UK that never got close.
2 losses to Vandy and 1 to SC that never got close.

The 5 games up or tied and lost were the killers.

Can't say they haven't had their chances to win more games.

Better relief pitching and better clutch hitting could change that.

Better managing/coaching would have definitely change that.

Everyone hates to hear it because "everybody else is young, too, and it's our own fault for being so young" but we're young. They fight their tails off.

And, yes, some very poor in-game decisions by the coaching staff have made a difference.

The players are still learning. The coaches are still learning how to manage these guys. No excuse, but that is the reality of what we're seeing.

As ticked as I was about losing the game today, I've cooled off and realized that we took 2 of 3 from Ole Miss in Oxford at a packed Swayze...and pretty much whipped them all weekend. We need to build on that. What seemed impossible - to get to 14 SEC wins - now looks more manageable.

ETA: We should be 9-9 right now, and would finish 16-14 if we take care of business. Instead, we're 6-12, and should finish 13-17 if we take care of business.

As bad as it seems like it has been, with a little more luck (and better play which makes your own luck), this team could easily be 8-10 against a very tough schedule.

Maybe they'll go 7-2 or something in close games the rest of the way.

I edited. I could see us at 9-9 right now, finish 7-5 or better. But, we're 6-12...should finish 7-5.

Hindsight:

Ms St - 2/3
Tenn - 1/3
Vandy - 0/3
Kent - 2/3
SC - 2/3
Ole Miss - 2/3

Remaining:

Arky - 1/3
Auburn - 2/3
Bama - 2/3
A&M - 2/3
