We’ve all kinda accepted that we aren’t coughing up another 12 to buy out O. But if that’s out of the question, then What makes 9 a drop in the bucket?
Assuming this thing keeps going the same direction, is 3 million really what’s standing in the way?

I was in the “no way they cough up 12” camp, but, if the wheels fall off, I’m really starting to think they won’t have a choice

Exactly, get rid of him in November. We can't afford to have 3 years like this one, recruiting, etc. Will set us back too far.

The potential real long-term damage to the program by keeping him for too long may necessitate a change later this year.

I hope I'm wrong BUT we got pussies running LSU that will keep O around because they think firing him after one year will send a bad signal PLUS the buyout. I hope I'm wrong but these frickers are incompetent.

I was under the impression that O was a bit of an experiment with a quick hook. I never looked at contract details until it became common knowledge after MSU. When he was hired, I thought it was 3 years @3.5 per. That guaranteed woulda been fine. 5? That’s the albatross. 5 ain’t an experiment. 5 is a life sentence

How in the world do you give a coach that NOBODY would hire, let alone another Top 20 program, that kind of buyout?

We understand this. Do the people making the decisions understand it?

It's the Omer Asik of college football coaching contracts.

I agree, but I mean completely. He’s gonna finish out the year. So as of now, there is a chance it turns around. Only cause the games haven’t been played, lol. But, technically there’s a chance.

No way LSU is letting someone like O just walk away with 9 million. We need to face facts that he's going to be here in some shape or form for 3 years.

The real question is what does it cost us to not pay the buyout sooner rather than later?

It’s 5, not 3. But the money ship already sailed. He won the negotiations. keeping him just because you screwed that up is basically throwing good money on top of bad. He’s gonna cost us more than that

I don’t know how to quantify that, but if there’s anyone in the admin that has a lick of sense, they’d be forecasting that shite somehow right now

One article claimed Alleva just modified the yearly pay of the contract he was going to offer Herman, all other terms remained the same.

If that is true it is mind boggling.

I asked in a thread WHY do colleges give such huge buyouts? People say to retain the coach. I get that.... But 12 mil to retain coach O.......? That's retarded.

People said for a while that Alleva stinks, he needed to go first. Rest of y'all had your collective heads in the sand. But he expanded the stadium! Yeah with money made by coaches he didn't hire.

If this is remotely true, we need to fire Alleva and the Law School Dean who hired him. This week.
