Both targeting calls were crap. Targeting is crap.
Neither guy should’ve been ejected - they were both clean hard shoulder tackles.

The ejection bs needs to go...just call the 15 and let the player stay...if it happens again then eject them...

There needs to be some grey in the rule. Right now it’s black and white. Totally screws teams over.

Losing Ricks was huge.

nope, both were obvious targeting. It’s exactly the type of hit they’re trying to take out of the game. Defenders have to adapt.

Leading with your shoulder hoping to dislodge the ball? That’s what football is.

What exactly was the Arkansas player supposed to do.

He turned his body, didn’t dip his head, Boutte was falling.

That hot was literally unavoidable and the defender did everything possible to avoid a dirty hit.

not against a defenseless receiver when the shoulder is to the receiver’s head or neck. The rule is the rule, defenders have to adjust.

defender can extend hands, keep head up, and try to actually wrap up the receiver.

Instead of just delivering a hit. You know, football fundamentals.

I’m just sick of unlucky shoulder shots to the head being called.

It should only apply to Shazier-type plays where the crown of the helmet is used as a weapon. That’s where the serious injuries occur.

The rule sucks, but both of those hits were targeting under the rules.

The Arky player also clearly launched into the defenseless WR

The hit by the Arkansas player looked harder. Hard hits don’t equate to targeting.

Neither player launched. Neither led with the crown of the helmet.

Awful officiating.

If you want to call “personal foul - unnecessary roughness/defenseless receiver”, fine. But those weren’t targeting and neither player should’ve been ejected.

Ejections should only come if it’s a dirty play. Neither were. Football is soft nowadays

both launched. And the crown isn’t required to deliver a devastating blow.

Football isn’t soft. It’s 2020, and we now know that brain injury is real, and they’re trying to take the biggest hits out of the game, especially on defenseless guys.

I’ve got no problem with the rule. Players just have to play smarter.
