No, I'm a basketball fan too. Hence the frustration with watching the program being driven over the cliff.

Before he showed up LSU was ALREADY at the bottom of the cliff. Two NCAA tournament appearances in 9 years and they had just completed the the worst conference season since 09-10 where LSU also won just two SEC games all season.

If LSU is forced to completely "start over" (and I don't think they will) so what? It's not like this was a perennial NC contender who is risking being torn to the studs. Wade is the first coach in over 25 years that has at least given LSU a chance to CONSISTENTLY compete at a high level. Brady was a roller-coaster. Johnson (who was the "clean" recruiter you think every coach should be) was terrible outside the one year he had Brady's holdover talent. Jones (who, I promise you, played the recruiting game just like Wade) completely squandered all of his great talent

It was bad luck....he won’t ever get caught again.

what were the chances the feds were trying to fix a court case against ncaa and had a guys phone tapped. Slim to none.

Lesson learned. In 30 years Wade can be coach K and immune to it. All wade did was talk, K is in a case with actual monetary payments. Not a word.

Will wade is just playing by the unspoken rules the NCAA has allowed to go on. If people want Wade punished then that’s fine but everybody should be punished as well.

According to 247sports:

2018: #4 Nationally
2019: #32 Nationally
2020: #5 Nationally
Very good results and recruiting. We should all hope we accomplished these results in a legitimate way and the program continues to grow without any sanctions or penalties by the NCAA.

He's been caught talking about 3 separate players. And the NCAA was on him dating back to VCU. Let's not pretend its bad luck lol.

Chicken Little!

So what? If you have to lose every year to be secure, I'll take the gamble. I watched for years as Duke, Kentucky, Georgetown, and Villanova came down and signed the best players in Louisiana. Not a smidgen of corruption.

Some fans live under a black cloud. I suppose they believe they don't deserve to be happy and enjoy life.
We had our black cloud when Johnson and Jones were coaching.
I enjoy the sunshine.
Wade and Orgeron, what a time to be a Tiger fan.

I'm pretty sure Arizona hasn't received a notice yet, or Auburn. USC, Creighton and South Carolina were also implicated, and I don't think they have gotten one either. I'm sure there are other possibilities I'm leaving out also.

I DO remember right before the nick saban of college basketball was hired here, a list of schools and players receiving improper payments had LSU, Jarrell Martin, and Tim Quarterman implicated. If we were to receive an NOA, I think it's more likely it would concern that and not Wade who was reinstated to his job, and has continued to crush it since then.

It took a fricking FBI wiretap to implicate him. This isn’t exactly normal sloppiness.

Right, just don’t pretend it’s isolated

You think those are the first guys he’s ever paid for lol?

Of course not. He is a college basketball coach.

Where there is smoke there is fire, but literally every team is smoking.

I don't think you get to demand success on the court and get on your high horse when you see how the sausage is made.

Literally is a strong word Sam.

Blue bloods have ducked the NCAA for years because they aren’t sloppy like Wade has been

what are you talking about KANSAS literally just got a NOA for the same shite.

The blue bloods have survived because the guy they were talking to didn't happen to be wiretapped by the FBI.

The fact that a coach could or should expect that a conversation with a "runner" (one of probably dozens, if not more they talk to on a yearly basis) would be secretly recorded in connection with a criminal investigation by the FBI is ridiculous and a blatant example of hindsight being 20/20. Never before has the FBI investigated college basketball recruiting.

Assuming for the sake of argument he has engaged in "dirty" recruiting before, then no, it's probably not bad luck his name would come up. However, it bad luck that he gets caught on tape as part of an unprecedented investigation. One, where he isn't really doing anything illegal

There’s more than 1 blue blood dude

And my response was to someone calling it bad luck

The more you do it the more likely you are to be caught

The more times that you, as the HC, are the frontman for it and not some lower paid assistant, the more risk you put the program at

Again, the NCAA was on him for stuff he did at vcu too. Google it. He’s made his own bad luck

If people want to criticize Wade for being sloppy, then go right ahead, but spare me the naive wishing that we operate under the rules and remain competitive.

Thats just BS

It 100% has to do with luck. Every School talks to someone when they are paying these kids, and the person wade was talking to was literally being wiretapped by the FBI who suddenly decided to care about this.

You mean like Bill Self texting with an Adidas exec about trying to get a player (De Sousa)? And it just so happens the wiretaps during phone conversations between Self and Adidas had "technical difficulties" and were unable to record the conversations.
