Why does LA just produce so many more RBs than LBs?

We're still seeing this trend and I think a big part of not being deep at LB (seems like ever) is every RB/LB size player wants to stay at RB for college. It's been this way for almost as long as I can remember and we're seeing it again with future recruits like Devin White and Dylan Moses.
White is now explicitly saying he wants to play RB in college (despite being an elite LB) and our coaches are recruiting him as such. Moses just showed out at RB at a rivals camp in ATL and he too might play RB in college vs. being an elite LB.
Just seems strange to me all these kids want to be at a dying (well, maybe that's harsh, let's call it much less valuable) position in the league vs. something that could potentially pay them big and not have be in some huge logjam at a position at LSU.

RB's score points and make the SC top 10, LB's not so much.

Pretty simple. Offense is more exciting then defense to most people.
Most kids would rather have the ball in their hands with the ability to score then just be the guy who tackled the guy trying to score. RBs are also more recognizable than LBs.

If this was all true, why then do we have no problems getting DBs vs. WRs

Moses will more than likely play LB

A lot easier to just run with a football than to catch one.

LB can be a problem, especially in medium to small schools. A kid in high school that is the prototypical SEC LB build is probably not going to play LB in high school. He's going to have his hand(s) on the ground. Hell, he may even play QB. Only the largest of places are going to have the luxury of playing that kid at LB.

You are asking two separate questions now.
To answer this question... We have no problems getting DBs because we are DBU. We put more DBs in the NFL than anyone. Other schools are better at putting LBs in the NFL which is why they get better LB prospects.
If you are asking about LA producing DBs. It's pretty similar to LBs. We get most of our DBs from out of state.

Haven't had much problem getting WRs lately either.

Very few teams in Louisiana put their best players on defense. Running Backs and Linebackers are the same body type. Soooo we have a surplus of one, lack of another.
As for DBs, 6' 185lb athletes grow on trees in Louisiana.

The frick? Dupre, Johnson, Doucet, Speedy, Randle. Top WRs overall in the nation.

There was a time (around 1968-74, when I was in school) LSU was known for our strong LB corps.
George Bevan and Mike Anderson came to mind.

What in the hell are you talking about? I have seen at least two interviews where White specifically says he wants coaches to side more on wanting him as an LB. He's stated the exact reasons being that RBs are being devalued at the pro level.
Moses has talked a lot about playing LB, man what are YOU talking about? If the NFL's downplaying RBs continue, then this will be an even more dramatic turn. I'm talking less power RBs, more LBs, and APBs, who would like to be slot receivers.

Despite similar builds and raw skills required, those positions are quite different. Wr's must be able to catch, run routes, gain separation, etc whereas db's need skills such as fluid hips and actually catching the football is not necessarily a premium. Few athletes are exemplary at both positions and are better suited for one or the other.

Whaaa?
2013
White, Jefferson, Robinson
Spears, Peterson, Diarse, Leslie
2014
Adams, Paris, Gage, Battle
Dupre, Quinn, Upchurch, Chark
2015
Lewis, Jackson, Toliver, Cutrer
Johnson, Dillon, Martin, Ferguson
2016 (so far)
Smith, Lewis
Sullivan, Anderson
Athletes like these are in abundance. A lot of DBs play WR and vice versa, but not many RBs play LBs and vice versa. There are some, but not the many compared to WR/DB.

I think some misconstrued that point, the point was we have no problem getting DBs and WR would be considered the opposite offensive position. Not that we have problems getting WRs.

You havent been keeping up then.
Article today on 247 where he says we are STRICTLY recruiting him at RB and that is what he wants to play.

I know about Moses, but he also keeps going to camps showing out as a RB, just like just did once again. Not exactly far fetched for him to end up like Devin White and wanting to play offense vs. defense.

Because the coaches take the best athlete and make them rb's.

I'm sure most people know that, but you never know
