What makes Ali Gaye so special?

Admittedly I haven’t watched much of his film but why would we keep him for only two years and sacrifice a Louisiana kid who has serious potential that could play 4 years? Gaye would have been gone way before Jalen Lee if you ask me. I don’t get this move.?

The #1 JUCO defensive end in the country from Garden City C.C. (KS) is looking to make an immediate impact along LSU’s defensive front. At 6’6-270, Ali Gaye looks and plays every bit the part of an SEC defensive lineman. His technique is refined, (as most JUCO guys are), and his hands are feet are constantly active.

He will probably be processed as well, still need to make more space.

I thought he was raw, but freakishly athletic. That's why he wasn't really putting up great JUCO stats. That's my recollection from previous discussions.

For the 15th time he will not be processed. DA loves him. Dude will be at LSU.

Can't y'all just trust the coaches? We have no one like him on our team right now, dudes 6'6 270 man/freak.... Same reason we took Joe Burrow with only 2 years when we could've recruited a 4 year quarterback.. Because it makes our team better now!

Same exact thing was said for B Traore. Hasn’t panned out at all. Neither has T Moore.
I’d much rather have Lee in my class and take 4 yrs vs 2 yrs.

Im assuming they think he can rush the passer next year.
If so, Im all in.

No shite... I’m not trying to convince anyone anything. Just voicing my concern with objective analysis.

You forgot to mention Damien Lewis

Divinity is gone after this season. They probably anticipate Chaisson will enter the draft (whether that is good decision or not is for a different discussion). Lawrence and Fehoko are also gone after this season, and Justin Thomas is no longer on the team.
As for the OLB's, LSU has been desperate for someone who can consistenly rush the passer. Yet, despite numerous opportunities, it appears Anthony and Thornton aren't those guys. And guys like Moore and Cherry seem like they could be in a rotation, but clearly they aren't. I doubt that is just due to coaches' oversight.
Point being, LSU needs some guys who can come in and play immediately at OLB/DE next season. Rarely are true freshman physically ready for the SEC competition on a week to week basis. Thus, I suspect the coaches think Gaye is AT LEAST physically ready to step in right away and they don't want to have to be completely reliant on sub-par upperclassmen or true freshman at such a physical position.

You know
Every time, i see his highlights,
i say the same thing...
Too slow & Never Dominant
6'6 270 is the right frame for a person
(If they have speed), i just don't see that MEAN STREAK in him, sort of like Jordan Burch has or Jacque Roy has...
Maybe I'm wrong, but I wonder if others are thinking the same thing

He will step in at SDE and play immediately next year with Lawrence and Fehoko leaving. He’s a 3-4 DE

247 mentioned there is some benefit to signing some juco in regards to 85 scholarship limit.

He's been pretty dominant this season, playing much more physical. Best player on one of the better Juco defenses.
They wouldn't have kept him had he played like he did last season.

We need depth next year honestly.

Lawrence and Fehoko are seniors and if 1 (hopefully not both) of Farrell/Logan leave early for draft we need an immediate impact Dline guy to come in, bottom line. Not to mention Thomas left the team and may not be back either.
