For years on this board all we've read is that we just need to get over the hump. We just need to beat Alabama and flip the script, and once we do that, the fence will go up, perspectives will change, and we'll be able to keep the in-state players that we want.
Well, we did that in spectacular fashion last year en route to an undefeated season and a national title. And yet, here we are, 10 months later, about to lose two of the top three players in the state of Louisiana to Alabama.
Coming out looking like absolute dog shite to start the year basically used up all the good feels from last year.

Agree with this. We miss on a 5 star, we compensate with good projectable replacements. Saban misses on a 5 star he's got another or a 4 waiting in the wings. That's a huge difference. Part of it is the Bama program and the prestige it has but some of it is also not being dependent on the ebbs and flows of hs kids. One says no he will just go get the next one on the board. Meanwhile we scramble to land kids we could've landed all along. The entire O tenure has been this way. It's one of the few faults I have with him. Not planning for the possibility of missing on kids you expect to land.
