Joe Brady is smiling thinking of utilizing Gilbert's skills in this offense

Arik would excel in LSU's new Joe Brady offense. He would be miserable in Kirby Smart's Les-Miles-offense.

UGA has had some stud TE's recently that either haven't been utilized fully or properly.

Kirby is dead set on running this old school Saban offense.

We finally have an offense that should be any offensive weapons dream to come play at.

Considering how modern day nfl TEs are used, its more of a hybrid wr role. Not as concerned with blocking as much anymore

Yo Arik,

UGA developed 5 star TE Nauta into a 7th round practice squad player. LSU turned a low 3 star TE into a 4th round TE2. Whatya say baw?

I thought Bama was the big threat for Gilbert?

Just show him what they did with 5-star Isaac Nauta, hardly utilized and drafted 7th round.

We got a 3-star in Foster Moreau drafted in the 4th round in the old school offense we ran...

Come here and he would be a feature part of the offense.

Nauta's big flaw was his horrible athleticism. Nothing UGA can do about that.

Related: anyone know if there was any progress with the TE out of CO (name escapes me)?

Or was that just a 'thank you' offer?

UGA hasn’t been leading in months, Bama is and has been for a while now

Not just an offer.

TE Kole Taylor - Grand Junction, CO is COMMITTED.

Now, I guess things could always change if Gilbert or Washington were to fall in O’s lap. But this kid is committed now and has upside.

I'd rather have Taylor than Gilbert. Taylor is more athletic, has better open field agility and has better hands than Gilbert. He may not be as good a blocker as Gilbert, but he will be a much better receiver.

Foster definitely developed into a solid TE. He will no doubt have a successful long career in the nfl. He’s got really underrated athleticism as shown by his great 40 time at the combine. Just a shame he was forced to block so much because our line was shitty

oh, damn... I completely missed his commit!

Personally, as for that position, now that you filled me in (without biting my head off- thank you for that), I'd be happy with calling it a day for Taylor. Kid has stud written all over him and seems to be the near-perfect fit for what we're doing now.

By 'thank you' offer I meant it was an offer we'd dearly like to get, but we got a 'thank you, I'm flattered but ....' response. I had assumed distance and late to the party meant we didn't have a chance. Obviously, I didn't follow it closely enough.

It does seem crazy to think some white kid out of Colorado would be more athletic than a 5 star TE but it looks that way to me too, really think we have a diamond in the rough with Taylor. Look for yourself. Kole Highlightsvs Gilber Highlights

The difference between them is Gilbert is a true TE at 6'5" 250+lbs,Cole Taylor is a glorified tall wide receiver.

It's unlikely Taylor will ever be much of a factor in the run game blocking anybody.

Gilbert is an all around true TE right now with the size and game to immediately get some playing time as a freshman.
