quote:

Turner, an Ohio native who plays high school ball for national powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., has family in Baton Rouge. That was only part of the reason why he felt committing to the Tigers on Easter night was the right time to pull the trigger, however.

“The cultural part was a big factor, as well as the major winning history and the major culture there at LSU. The coaches made me feel at home, made me feel welcome and Coach O [Ed Orgeron] talked to me a lot. We had a pleasant conversation. [Offensive line] coach [James] Cregg — I loved the way he coached the O-line. I loved the energy at practice and I felt LSU was the right fit for me.”

quote:

Above all, Cregg’s NFL pedigree made the strongest impression on the 6-foot-5, 257-pound prospect. Turner has only been working at center on a full-time basis the last two months. Last year at IMG, he played multiple spots along the offensive line as well as some snaps at tight end, but Cregg’s insistence to plug Turner into the middle of the Tigers’ line made the decision rather easy for the recruit.

The #6 OC, but has only played OC full time for 2 months.

quote:

“Right now, I’m very happy to be in the position I am with LSU,” Turner said. “We have the No. 4 class in the nation and I feel like it’s going to get better. We could bring a national championship back to LSU with our class.”

I get the feeling this kid has a really high ceiling. He needs to add weight, but is very athletic. Some schools had interest in him as a TE. I fully expect him to be a top 3 OC by the end of his senior year and it seems very likely he will stick with LSU.

If he can get his weight up (good weight) to 285-290 his senior year, that will give him time to come in and redshirt and be up around 310-315 when hes ready to play in a few years. SEC NT's arent small boys.

I liked these statements from the article.

quote:

Turner remains very comfortable with his decision and has high hopes of continuing to build up the class and teaming up with 5-star lineman Kardell Thomas, who also played a role in this process.

“Right now, I’m very happy to be in the position I am with LSU,” Turner said. “We have the No. 4 class in the nation and I feel like it’s going to get better. We could bring a national championship back to LSU with our class.”

Kardell doing work !!!

Coach O is doing the opposite of Les Miles by pulling in the trenches but not RB's and DB's like Les Miles.

One recruiting class is not a sufficient sample size. He did get 4 star RB Curry last year along with Proevens and has a commitment from 4 star Davis this year and possibly Cain or Emery.

Joseph CB/S was signed last year, but the Surtain/Goodrich debacle hurt. I expect that's more of an anomaly than a trend. We already have a high 4 star CB in Hampton committed and a lot of other targets that we stand a good chance of landing.

This dude might be the worst poster on the recruiting board. Do you think running backs don’t pay attention the OL commits? Chill out bro. Ed O is building from the trenches, which is what needs to happen. He missed on on freaking DB and people think the world is going to end. So, after he lands two top rbs and a elite group of dbs, what are you going to bitch about next? Maybe the WR’s aren’t y’all enough? Give me a fricking break.

Yeah it does. Sometimes I think CP3LSU25 gave a rational response or thought and then I realize it was the other guy.

He has to be very athletic to also play TE, makes you wonder if center is the right projection for him because I can easily see him back at OT with his kind of athleticism. If he grows another inch especially, he seems like a very intelligent type that can play every position.

Funny how we see immediate results with this dude over the other guy we had.

I can run circles around you in recruiting. We have zero elite RB’s ready for game one this year. We have had STUD RB’s the last decade every class and didnt have much to do with the Oline.

How many teams do have Elite RBs?

We have been spoiled the last few years with Hill, Fournette, and Guice.

Before them was Ware (who lost his starting job to Hill and shared the load with 3 other RBs), Ridley, Scott, Hester, Keiland Williams, and Ally Broussard.

None of that second group were “elite”. They were all good to very good college RBs but they were most definitely not in the elite category.

The last Elite RB we had before Hill was Joseph Addai and he had trouble staying healthy. I guess you could consider freshman year Justin Vincent Elite too. (I’ve never seen a player regress as much as that guy).

But my point stands, we have always had really good RBs but we HAVE NOT always had elite RBs.

There is no reason why we shouldn’t believe that Brosette, CEH, or Curry can’t be as good as a Charles Scott (IMO, our worst starting back of the century. Not a shot at him because he was very good, he just wasn’t as athletically gifted as his peers).

We have had the pick of elite RB’s for a decade and it’s a shame we went 2 years with missing RB targets with what we have proven sending them into the league.

Let’s look at our teams we are trying to compete with. Georgia and Alabama might have their #3 RB better than our 1st.

Of all things to worry about at LSU, RB isn’t one. Keep on fighting for your cause though.

Run circles all you want bud. But your knowledge for recruiting is inferior. Until you get off Miles’s but sack and realized he did more harm than good. Of course we don’t have a LF or DG this year, anybody can’t see that. And who whiffed on that RB that could be elite this year? ED O? Nope. It was fricking Miles who whiffed on Ettienne. So, when ED O signs two elite backs this class maybe you will shut the frick up.
