Assuming Parish is not going to participate this year and assuming the coaches come out of spring feeling they need a more experienced backup to Brennan than either of the true freshmen what QBs do you think would even be left in the portal to choose from?
Which makes me think we’re going with what we got.

The problem is that any QB worth a shite in the portal is not going to want to come to LSU to be a backup. Most of them are in the portal because they want playing time. LSU's pitch would basically be "Hey come here and be the #2 QB." I'd bet we're going to roll with what we've got.

It would also be a hard sell for a transfer to come here right now when we have an established starter. They’ll want a school where they can compete for the job.

Dont think we would go to the portal for a qb to be second string...if Myles gets hurt the season will then be a lost to an extent to put the freshman in and patch work the season...This is Myles team and i expect him to run it that way...

As for winning games, depending on how the season is going, i doubt that any portal QB is worth a damn at this point, I rather just ride it out like it is, worst case is that Max are TJ will get meaningful reps as a true freshman, that's not such a bad thing

If Myles went down, I'd rather have Jontre Kirklin play QB than either of the freshmen.

We haven't yet seen what Johnson and Finley can bring to the table foolish to consider a transfer unless it's Trevor Lawrence

You literally have no idea what either of the freshman QB’s will do

Orgeron indicated, after spring practice, if the freshman appear incapable of running the team, then he would look at the portal in hopes of finding a backup in case Miles were to be injured.
We not backin down. Looking towards another championship.

And that is literally, my opinion.

But yes, I’d rather have the talented athlete who played QB in HS and has run scout team QB against our first team defense’s size and speed, over two kids who could still be in HS right now.

With that said, I really hope Myles doesn’t get hurt.

Established? What? We definitely hope he’s GOOD but he is by no means established!

Who’s our established starter? Joe Burrow started the last 28 games for us.

While we might not be able to get the highest rated guys who expect to start, I think it’s a good idea to get more experience at QB2, assuming neither of the Freshmen give the coaches confidence.

I wouldn’t just assume no one in the portal is willing to compete for a job. While we have an expected starter, he’s never played any meaningful snaps and some portal QB might have the chest to show up and compete.

Admittedly, it’ll be a sad day in Tigerland if Miles isn’t the 2020 starter for any reason.

Smartest move is to stick with the two freshman. It give the experience to players who are more likely to stay for more than 1 year and brings them both along much quicker. It helps with recruiting and sends great message to talented young quarterbacks who see a freshman backing up a national championship team and former record breaking offense.

If Brennan gets hurt, it will be harder to keep things rolling but it will also be an opportunity to show to other recruits that LSU is as next man up and reload as the other premier programs and doesn't depend on any single player or position to compete for hardware.

Id give Stingley a shot. Lets see how much of a jack of all trades that kid really is.
