I don't know what these discussion are all about but I can tell you Mettenberger is not a well spoken person.

Sometimes "well-spoken" means

quote:

with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.

as Harry Reid famously said about Barack Obama. But, PHX, it doesn't always mean that. Sometimes, it's just a compliment to a kid. This board is much better when everything doesn't put the worst possible interpretation on everyone else's comments. Is that too much to ask?

I'm well spoken.

I'm white.

Checkmate.

Now can we get back to the point of this thread?

Would you say he is "WELL SPOKEN" if he was white?

Well, not trying to bash anyone here...

But I will always remember the interview the year following the 07' Championship between Troy Smith and Jamarcus Russell...JR did not carry himself respectably as Troy Smith did and I personally considered it a reflection of the school and program...

Not to mention the tasteless comment he made to TS about beating OSU. Which, I love the fact that LSU won cause I can't stand OSU...but you have to have some class about it. So, I'm all for having a well spoken and intelligent guy on the field...regardless of race due to that person being a representative of the school and program.

That's my two cents and has always been since that interview in 08'.

Wow, wtf. Didn't TAMU fans come in here other day and say Brown isn't being recruited by TAMU?

Brown said Sumlin is dealing with his recruitment personally, I'd say that's a pretty big deal.

Anyone read the comments from the Aggie fans. Do they realize he's a DB and when he talks about tempo he's talking about defense. And he mentions one of his goals is to win a Heisman..he seems confident like PP7 and TM7.

I like how they say he isn't too much into LSU or Bama when those are the two schools he primarily talks about...didn't really mention TAMU...

I guess that "AggSwag" eventually got to their head...kinda like syphillis...

um, no. Not even remotely true. Some random guy on another board posted that his highlights aren't that impressive and he's a "camp warrior" and you guys have made that into some huge thing. People have opinions. But I haven't seen a single post here or anywhere else that even suggests we're not recruiting him.

Tony Brown is and has been a high priority target for our staff. He will be until he signs. I wish Hamm had asked him how track would play into his decision. A lot of the schools he listed have good track programs (LSU, A&M, UF, FSU) and some are pretty meh (USC, OSU, Bama, UTx). I've assumed he wanted to run track too but I honestly don't know. Anyone seen anything about this?

I'm almost 100% sure one of you bastards came in here and said Brown isn't a high priority at DB for TAMU. They have several guys rated higher than him on TAMU's board.

I haven't heard anything on that either but he seems to be really interested in track. His sister is coming here for track though.

even if someone said that it wouldn't suggest we aren't recruiting him. You are probably thinking of Paris though. Our staff does like DGB better (and I was told that back in Dec when we first offered DGB) but I think Paris was #2 on their board. Doesn't really matter. All of the guys you and we are going to get are going to be super highly rated. I'm pretty sure Brown is our 1a/1b corner (with Harvey) though I've never been flat out told that.

Well, he's pretty elite in track. Like potential olympic runner someday. So I'm pretty sure he's interested in it. I just wonder if he's making a decision based on Football and Track equally or if he's making a Football decision and will just also run track there. Obviously I'm hoping for the first but from that interview it sounds like the latter.
