He's committed. Sonny and Shea talked about him on their recent podcast. They mentioned how he is one of LSU's biggest recruiters. No worries.

He should go there. Very overrated player. He will do better at a school like that with lower expectations.

Insane how many guys on this board trash a QB who is committed to play at LSU.

Hope you guys are wrong on him!

I know, man. I'm not sure I can ever remember so much negativity toward a committed guy who is this highly rated, with the offer list Finley has.

It's really crazy to me.

It was the local ponch fans who started all this and people bought into it. Fact of the matter is he should have moved on to a different school, that high school is really bad and he has practically no help.

He had two all state receivers and a freshman receiver who was just offered by LSU. Had plenty around him.

Maybe he’s been asked to look around

If you're talking about Spears, he was an all-purpose player, not a pure receiver by any means, he also is going to Tulane. His OL was total dogshit and he had very very little time to work with after watching him play.

Every game he would be asked to get into a shootout because the defense couldnt stop anyone.

No idea who the 2nd "all state" receiver is you're talking about, Spears was the only one. If you're talking about Tay Cole he was "Honorable mention" (along with about 100 other class 2A players) and to my knowledge isn't going to any D1 school.

In the end it all starts up front and that OL really gave Finley VERY little time to work with way too often. Finley has gone to a few camps this offseason and impressed multiple times.

You clearly don’t follow camps. he’s a stud, with a cannon of an arm and will thrive at LSU.

It's been mentioned a few times on premium boards Finley has looked good in at least 2 different camps this winter/spring.

Opening New Orleans
National Underclassman combine
7 on 7s for EPS Blaze

This was said about him at the Pylon Nola 7 on 7s:

quote:

As mentioned, EPS Blaze advanced to the title game. The squad actually went 0-3 in pool play but bounced back in a big way thanks to the play of LSU quarterback commit TJ Finley. A strong-armed pocket passer, Finley fit throws in tight windows and was a tremendous leader for EPS Blaze.

An excerpt from national underclassmen combine:

quote:

2020 Ponchatoula (La.) quarterback TJ Finley came out to San Antonio for the National Underclassmen Combine on Friday and the LSU quarterback commit put on a show in the combine.

We aren't keeping 3 QBs in the same class through the end of their college careers. It just doesn't happen.

He only won a couple games at pylon, was 0-3 first day and got hammered in the finals and was 0-5 in last 7v7 tournament. I just don’t think LSU should go after a kid who has only won 4 games in two years and completes less than 50% of his passes. Love the King kid though. Those are the types LSU should go after.

He is not the only player on either of those teams, and specifically they singled him out as leading them to the title game in the 7 on 7 due to HIS play even after an 0-3 start.

I got to watch him at Ponch a few times last year and it was PAINFUL to watch him have zero time back there and very little to work with. The defense was terrible and the coach clearly only understands how to run a veer. I get trying to modify things for him because he's a once in a generation type of physical talent, but it clearly isn't working out. Finley should transfer to school that isn't nearly as bad as Ponch. IMG could do him wonders

Again, saw him at Pylon and that’s just not true. Was erratic in finals. At some point you have to stop blaming kids around him.

What reason do the national reports have to continuously lie about him in performance in these 7 on 7s and camps?

It seems you are picking and choosing what you want to talk about here and not wanting to give him any credit whatsoever when clearly there are some out there giving him credit. They even posted a video of him throwing at the January underclassmen event and he made some really impressive throws.

I definitely think he isn't a finished product but you have to be crazy to not think the kid has MAJOR upside with his size and arm once he can get some proper coaching.

LSU recruits too many projects at that position. Kid has a great arm, I agree, but is very inconsistent. They only put the good throws online. At the end of the day we need winners at LSU.
