Yes, I realize that Alabama prospects are in a different situation with two large state schools in the SEC West, and it is a very valid point that many residents fled South LA after the hurricanes for one of the states bordering LA.
Also, LSU has still signed many players from Bama over the years--the current team has Josh Williford, and of course Kwon Alexander, along with others over the years like J. Russell, Harold Bishop, etc.

My grudge is with the people who take it to personal lives by threatening to get the prospect blacklisted with potential employers. It's just a tad bit overboard in my opinion.

La kids should go to LSU because one day they will not be playing football anymore and by playing for the home team they will get the good-guy *bump*. Think about it. If Fournette goes to bama and blows out his knee his freshman year he is a guy with no home: He never did enough to be remembered in bama and he doesn't get the hero/local great opportunities of being an LSU recruit that had his career cut short. I don't think that there is much upside to being an outsider/traitor to the 'home team', especially when you pick the biggest rival of the home team. You think Landon Collins has ANY future in LA after going to bama? If LC goes down with a career-ending injury he'll be bagging groceries at Kroger whereas if he had gone to LSU he would have some fans in powerful positions that would help him go places. In bama he'll just be replaced and forgotten. Anyway, whatever. Kids will go where they want.
everything in this post is the exact problem the OP is talking about. It's absolutely ridiculous that people act this way.

I think you are the one acting ridiculous. I mean outside of recruitniks most people dont remember the random highschool hero who went out of state on scholarship and then came back unless they did something big. IE-Luther Davis. However, guys like Luke Sanders are instantly more hireable. People are homers. People in West Monroe are 90% LSU fans. They watch LSU football every weekend. They get practice reports in the News Star about LSU. Those practice reports make highlights about guess who-the local guys.
As a business owner-particularly in sales-who helps your business more?
People want to rub shoulders and hear war stories with the guy who was on the team they followed every saturday. They would think its funny to hear a couple locker room Moffit stories. They dont give a shite about hearing what Burton Burns did the saturday before the Kent State bama game.
Do you think Tharold Simon would own Eunice if he went to TAMU?
Do Louisiana High School players HAVE to go to LSU? No. Is it in their direct benefit long term to do so? Yes.

Honestly It's not just about trusting LSU's recruiting. I trust their coaching. Last season(2012), because of injuries, LSU started or played 15 Freshman for 65% of the games. That just shows how good Chavis is. I know that we had some key Freshman Linemen and Jeremy Hill of course, but now that we have Cam, I expect the same results on offense. In the years to come LSU will continue to be in competition for the SEC West, SEC Championship, and the National Championship. And, LSU will have the youngest players in most all College Football. It will be a feat that very few schools will be able to accomplish. Of course this will mean more and more offensive players will start coming out early for the NFL like the Defensive players. We are already seeing these changes because for the first time in years LSU has several top recruits on offense that are very close to committing and will be very happy when our offense blows away our opponents. It all starts with our top ranked and very talented QB prospect Brandon Harris. I think after we close out this year as National Champions and we start 2014 with the best recruiting class of any school in the past 10-20 years or maybe ever. Starting with 2013 we will win the next 5-6 National Championships in a row.
Wake up djkevlar you are dreaming...
However, its not an unattainable dream. In fact its not unbelievable at all. I can see LSU pulling this off now that we have a truly strong direction for our offense.
By the way, I am going to the LSU vs. TCU game for the Cowboys Classic. I am extremely excited.

I'm more talking about the people who are saying stuff like "good luck finding a job in La after football" acting as if people wouldn't hire the athlete solely because they didn't go to LSU. I realize that staying in state has certain advantages, but my beef is only with the people on the extreme end of the spectrum. I'm just not a person who believes its ok to go out of their way to be an a-hole just because he didn't play for the home state school. Obviously it would be easier to get a job here because of the exposure they would get playing for LSU, and that's not really hat I'm arguing against. It's just crazy in my opinion the way people treat players who feel like playing somewhere other than LSU would put them in a better situation to be successful. People just take it way too seriously and wayyyy to personally. If you want to play at LSU and the home state then that's awesome, but I'm not going to crucify someone for choosing another route. Only in a situation like LC where the kid purposely screws over the staff an fans would I take it any where near as personal as some folks.

we are only really talking about the star players here... send a NOLA guy to a Auburn or Ole Miss where he rushes for 30 yards in 4 years and no one will care when it's time to give him a job
the hate is really for star players going to SEC rivals, then if the guy busts, it still doesn't matter

You all do realize that other schools have alumni networks as well.
Maybe somebody doesn't want to live in Louisiana for the rest of their lives.
Maybe they want to focus on a career (not working at a Cadillac dealership) in something like advertising, music production, or computer engineering, which is not a strong suit at LSU.
Louisiana is not a hotbed of careers for most industries.
You can't fault a kid for not playing football for your enjoyment when he has to live his life after he trots off the field for the final time.
Like some have said-- Tiger Bait.
But don't think Louisiana is a powerful mecca when it comes to white collar careers. There are tremendous advantages to going to schools in major metropolitan areas, or to schools that feed particular industries, that are going to serve them better after being a football player.
It sounds like a lot of people posting here are worried more about their egos more than anything else.
