We aren’t in the market, but that’s just crazy. There are only 130 FBS teams.

The transfer portal has been described as a “quarterback portal” because there are so many. That’s true, especially this year.

There will likely be well over 100 quarterbacks in the portal before it’s over.

Only thing to stop the portal is to stop taking transfers from D1 to D1 and allowing waivers

It’s going to be higher this year than normal since they approved the Covid waiver to allow no lost year.

It will reduce the following year short of them approving that waiver again.

There’s more than 1000 players currently in if. There are a ton of kids who never get out of it and are never heard from again

There are 174 defensive backs, 155 wide receivers, 136 defensive linemen, 99 linebackers, 83 quarterbacks, 83 offensive linemen, 68 running backs, 35 tight ends, 8 athletes, 7 punters, 6 kickers and 1 long snapper.

That’s 855 players with more to come. Will end up being well over 1000 by summer.

Edited to add quarterbacks to the overall total.

For a change we don't need any of them.

Not quarterbacks, correct. But Eric Wilson is on there and he’s supposedly a silent commit. May take another transfer OL depending on Leigh and Moko.

There’s literally not going to be places for all these kids to go. They are leaving full ride scholarships to maybe get the same deal elsewhere. Real life is a bitch and they are going to find that out quickly unfortunately.

Well I’m sure there’s a few potential diamonds in there for us.

Are we still on that linebacker that is transferring?

Not everyone ends up in FBS.

FCS teams will reap the benefits

Absolutely correct. Probably more than half of these will end up with no scholarship and not be in college.

Well I think these 18 yr old "kids" have made it very clear they want to be treated like men these days. That means hired, fired, & put out in the street if you don't produce.

Unfortunately it’s the mind set of this weak minded generation. Most kids these days are a bunch of sandy vaginas with the need for immediate satisfaction. No patience at all.

This proves recruiting is stupid

And that is all off of the 247 Portal site. I'm not sure how up to date and accurate that is. There are probably more that are not on there.

And the season just ended. After spring practice and people see their spot on the depth chart, it will be a lot more.

This is going to be tough lesson for about 300-500 kids who never play meaningful football ever again.

While many have legitimate reasons for leaving, many are just quitting on their team. If your offense/defense changes schemes and you don’t fit, I got it. If you’re a freshman that’s not getting enough PT, you’re just a quitter.

Lessons will be learned.

Eh I don’t really see the issue here. Some will end up getting the short stick but that was their choice. How many coaches and analyst are gonna change teams this offseason?

Most of those are from this past off season and have a new team already. Peter Parrish is in the 2021 portal for some reason.
