And lsu only has one offensive tackle, and one defensive tackle so far. Does this concern anyone here?

Defensive line looks fine.

Offensive line we definitely need to hit hard

The ultimate glass half empty philosophy!

Top 5 class equals disaster.

Only 5 linemen start plus three quality back ups equals 8. So need to average 2 signings per year.

Your facts are just words on a computer screen until next September.
We don't know who is returning. We don't know who else the staff will bring in.
Our OL played like crap for most of the season. But Cregg had them playing very well together vs Florida. Florida was leading the conference in Sacks, but never sacked Johnson.
Its going to be a good 2021.

DL should be fine.
We added Maason Smith DT.
Landon Jackson could bulk up and play DT and DE.
We likely will add Bryce Langston 247 depending on grades
Saivion Jones 247 may have already signed, but will announce later
Roy has shown signs of being as advertised
Guillory has been injured, but as a HS powerlifter is one of the strongest players on the team
BJ will get bigger with a real offseason in 2021

OL continues to be a concern.
Most people believe we will flip Kimo Makaneole 247
Still need to get more commits before it's over though.

This isn’t 1973, it’s won at the QB position

Do you think it was our offensive line or our skilled players that made us great in 2019? I think we had great skilled players behind a good line. Take Burrow, Clyde and our receivers, and put them behind any good line, and they win the natty. So it's not the trenches that rule.

Only 3-4 WR’s on the field at a time, so I guess we only need to sign 1 of those each class, right? We truly don’t need to sign 4 or more of those in this class. We are strong with freshman receivers, they are showing out on the field already. 1 of 2 receivers is fine, but we are overloading at that position and neglecting the OL, which was very poor this season.

Our most recent OL recruits have been busts. So your theory of only needing two each class is flawed because the hit/miss ratio on lineman is pretty tight. It’s easy to dominate high school line play when you matured early and are one and two years older than those you line up against. Some of those guys don’t translate into good college lineman.

We need to fill the last spots with the big boys.

No. Not at all. This same thing was only posted 534,498 times here yesterday.

I agree. LSU MUST get better on both sides of the LOS. But even before yesterday, while I hoped LSU could pull another OL prospect or two, I felt THIS was the year to hold a few scholarships back because, in essence, we are about to enter a college version of "free agency". There should be several good, game ready players to pick up. Whether that will be talented guys at power conf. school who are disgruntled and/or don't want to wait there turn. Or great players at G5 schools who want a year in the bigger leagues. Maybe the toughest jump from HS to college is along the LOS simply because of the increase in the size and physicality of the competition. Thus, it's generally tough for true freshman to make a big impact. This offseason it should be easier than ever before to get physically mature guys ready to step in and make an impact immediately.

I wouldn't panic just yet

Another OL post? There are like a million of them from yesterday. LSU knows they need some OL. They have 6 spots, I think after February they will get 2 more OL maybe 3 depending on how things shake out.

After last year’s class, I don’t think this DL class is an issue.

It’s clear from what O said yesterday that we are bringing in more OL in this class. It was nice to finally hear him acknowledge it. However, there are a few good looking guys in the portal, so they may look there for one or two rather than signing project guys late.

That’s a short-term mentality. If you want consistency, you have to recruit well on the lines. It’s not a coincidence that Bama, Clemson and OSU consistently recruit the best on the OL and DL and OU does as well on the OL, and they all have a lot of playoff births.

You can work with a good line like we did last year, but you won’t be consistent, as we all saw this year when the OL dropped off hard.

No. Because there are still opportunities to find help at those positions. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

And if football is really won just in the trenches, Arkansas would have won at least 5 SEC Titles by now.

Have faith.
