Just making sure you guys know, but LSU Compliance tweeted this out yesterday:

quote:

Reminder to all people associated with LSU athletics, please do not reach out to possible recruits. Leave the recruiting 2 sport coaches.

Wasn't reaching out or recruiting. It's through mutual friends and I asked a few questions like they are asked every day by their peers... It's not like that.

Technically, if you don't have a prior relationship before the kid becomes a recruit then you cannot talk to them. I think it's completely unenforceable, but those are the rules.

Technically, giving him a picture is an impermissible benefit if you guys qualify as boosters. Perfect example of how stupid these rules are and why they should be modernized and simplified. Twitter is a gold mine of minor NCAA violations if the NCAA could actually enforce this stupidity.

At what point is he considered a "recruit" ? Is this something that instantly occurs? Or is the definition of "recruit" receiving a scholarship offer? Attending a camp? Really broad term iMO.

The correct terminology is actually "prospect" (I got it wrong) and it's a hard definition of when a kid becomes a 9th grader in high school for football. It's 7th grade for basketball.

What if he doesn't play football, but he's actually a basketball player who a college wants to play TE or OT? What then? Does his "prospect" status start at the midpoint between 7th and 9th grade? Or what if he takes his senior year off to work on grades but isn't playing any sports at all?

But we can post them here, right?

From his imagined commitment day at the UA Game,

Until his imagined NFL draft day.

I guess growing the full beard before the draft is a Texas thing.

As long as we don't make one up with him wearing LSU socks,

right?
