Nick will be a walk on. I’m sure he didn’t have a very high percent of a baseball scholarship so it’s not like he is giving up a lot.

OK thanks, I think mainieri just assumed he would be on scholarship and knew that if that happened, then it would count against the 25 this year

He would get it during the season if we don't get anyone else, I bet. It'll go to whoever earns it during practices and training camp. I bet we use it on someone though.

Wish Paul would verify his information before he says it in an interview that's replayed 3 times. I'm sure Im not the only one who's relayed that information and was made to look like a fool.

He literally said Nick would count against this year's 25 and that coach o announced or would announce..

That's all I can do is report what the head baseball coach says. It seemed like a reliable source. Lol

Just listened to it again. It's online on the facebook page for "the Patrick neatherton show"

According to this si article, to me it reads that coach o did announce to the team that Nick will be one the 25 players with a scholarship from this class.

quote]There is a catch with Storz joining football. As part of NCAA rules, Storz will have to forfeit his scholarship with baseball and earn a scholarship for the football team. Storz wanted to make sure he had a spot on football before making the announcement.

"That's why I didn't announce it yet because I wanted to earn the football scholarship first, but I guess I've been doing pretty well with football that coach O went ahead and said it," Storz said.

At first, I thought they were saying he could earn the scholarship, but that he was one of the 85.

After reading it again, it seems there saying that he did get put on a football scholarship.

This part is what I'm talking about. Its kinda hard to know what he's saying here.

He keeps saying earn one but also said coach o said he did earn one.

Either coach o meant he earned a spot against the 25 or he earned a spot against the 85.

What’s confusing, is there is a 25 man hard cap on recruiting classes so you can actually take too many players at a position. If they take this guy, then stay on course for what they expect to land this year that will be 8 DE in 2 seasons. That makes no sense, especially with huge needs at OL, WR, S and LB (which we have now lost 6 guys in one year)

Storz has been in residence at LSU full time for more than one academic year. He WILL NOT count against the 25; only the 85 if he is on athletic scholarship.

If Indiana Tiger says it then you can take it to the bank.

I don't really see our DE depth as being great. We've got a lot of kids we know little to nothing about other than coach praise. Ojulari has already jumped some vets and many of the younger guys are likely better than the vets, so expect attrition. The 21 class is being loaded up on because we lack real depth going forward. No issue taking a chance on the Robinson kid

So he'd be a junior according to the article. I wonder when he'd report to campus.

Smart move by the coaching staff to try and add expierenced players to the dline room

It would be right away for the 2020 season. I mean he hasn't really missed anything so that's good for him. I like that he still has a redshirt year as well, so if he needs a little more time that's an option

Sounds like he's close to being a done deal with Ole Miss

quote:

He's still in Canada for now, filling out some paperwork for eligibility and academics, but plans to be on campus and settled into Oxford by the time voluntary workouts transition to real football practices in mid-July.

Maybe O can get him to change his mind

quote:

If you want to know who he grew up watching, it wasn't Ole Miss. It was actually Alabama and LSU, the schools he'll get to face every year in the SEC West.

“It’s my dreams coming true. I get to compete with the best and I think that will turn me into the best player possible," Robinson said.

I don't think the author of that article realized that LSU is making a late push

quote:

“It’s my dreams coming true. I get to compete with the best and I think that will turn me into the best player possible," Robinson said.

That certainly helps. All Ed has to do is say "Do you want to compete against the best twice a year or compete against the best every single day?"

Outside of Greg Little (and we all know how that turned out for Ole Miss), has Ole Miss had any other solid lineman since Blind Side?

Can we stop arguing about Storz and focus on this 6'8 monster. That dude is fricking FAST for someone that size. He was running down everyone he chased. Didn't even know I wanted. Now I want
