The OP believes Surtain is good enough to start the very first game and if not then the 2nd game for sure is how I understood the statement.
Most incoming freshmen do not start right away due to depth charts and little time for the players to make an impact in a short period of time after arriving for fall practice.
Peterson played 13 games as a true freshman. He started the final four games of season

They have a loaded db class no question. Their class as a whole is solid but a bit over ranked IMO. No beef to speak of. Do wish we could have one of their qb commits

Fulton is very solid, but he’s been on the field very little. There’s a lot of depth, I know.

Patrick Surtain, Jr. is not only a legitimate true freshman Game One starter, he may be a once in a decade Patrick Peterson type talent.
Meanwhile, Kelvin Joseph can hit like Jamal Adams, and in fact appears to enjoy hitting hard, plus has the true purple and golden heart for LSU... These two would be huge gets for us trending up for the near future.

Hopefully Surtain pulls a Rashard Robinson and starts day 1. I'll never forget seeing Robinson trotting out with the first team defense after being on campus FOR A WEEK. I knew right there that he was the real deal.
