Who were some big names that came out of nowhere on signing day in recent years? IIRC Arden Key was one who pleasantly came out of nowhere.

I had Never heard Key’s name before signing day.

And I follow Recruiting pretty regularly.

Jamal Adam was last minute after we missed on Hootie Jones. That worked out well

Chaisson a couple of years ago, he was supposed to go to Texas and we were supposed to get Marvin Wilson, Chaisson signed with us and Wilson went to FSU.

Montgomery was a surprise but after Haley was onboard we were considered a finalist.

The biggest surprises for me were JC Copeland and TaShawn Bower.

The only correct signing day answer.

As far as surprising commitments in recent memory:

Jerrell Powe is an all timer (I fell down my stairs running to tell my dad), and I feel like Amp Hill was the first OOS major recruit in the modern recruiting era

Travonte Valentine was a last minute surprise. A surprise we could have done without in the end.

Many LSU fans say the same thing when we lose out on a recruit. Just look at the excuses already in line if we lose Evans. “The Aggies backed up the truck if we lose Evans”.

Powe committed to LSU during the Army game. Did he stay committed then flipped to OM on NSD?

No, I don’t think he qualified, then signed with Ole Miss later.
