My little brother is teammates and good friends with Bobby. He's a cool dude and a HUGE LSU fan. Watched a lot of games in the Box with him and my little bro this season (he's in BR for regionals now). And his folks are really nice.

Like I said earlier, he's been playing travel ball with my brother for 2 years now so I'll be able to watch him play some more this summer. He's an awesome dude and a great ballplayer. I'll be sure to show him this thread next time he comes over.

Your little brother plays for the B-Town Tomahawks. My son has played against him for years in all stars and tourney ball. We played for the Stingrays last year. Bobby is a good kid. Will be a great Tiger.

What are the odds he actually makes it to campus? The article says he's a potential 1st rounder.

Meh, really couldn't tell you. We'll just have to wait and play it by ear. I don't think it's my place to ask him but I know his heart is at LSU though.

His family is not broke so that is not a huge concern. They are not rich either. Bobby has a good head on his shoulders.

IF he's a sophomore and being talked about as a potential 1st rounder already we can probably kiss him goodbye. Also, usually when we offer a kid THAT early in baseball, it means he's a national elite talent, a.k.a. very high draft prospect for the future.

This gives me hope.

You do know the new draft rules should cause more players to make it on to campus right? Teams are now much more limited on spending and have a cap for total amount they can spend for 1st - 10th round. Also nothing over 100k after 10th unless they deduct excess from pool for 1st 10 picks

Doesn't necessarily mean kids are more likely to.get to campus. Just means they are more likely to get drafted and paid (or not) in accordance with their skill.

With the new system you won't see guys outside of the 1st round getting 3+ million as the Pirates did last year. Doing things like that would cause teams to sign one player at the expense of several players.
