With 2 top notch frosh QBs, its doubtful that we'll land a top-notch quarterback in this class.

That said it appears the LSU staff is looking at sleeper prospects. The four most mentioned are:

Ricky Travis - St. Helena, DT
Jack Samsel - Mobile, AL, DT
Mason Schuker - AR, pro
Jordan Loving, Riverside, pro

After looking at their highlights the to that stand out are Travis and Schuker.

Which of these two you think has more upside? And would fit with the more passing game considering the wealth of potential receivers?

If LSU wanted to go the juco route there are a few very good ones coming out!! Watched one throw yesterday and my god he looked amazing! True dual threat but threw lasers like Jamarcus used to.. threw for 4000 yards this past season and runs a 4.7 40 at 6'5 200

Name? Unless Brennan and Narcisse don't impress in practice/this season, I can't see us going the JuCo route

Carter Bradley is a name to watch. From Florida, but was heavily recruited at Pitt by Canada and was doing really well at the Elite 11

I wouldn't take one. If our offense shows what it can do based on Canada at Pitt and we are past the Miles era we should be able to get a good one. Go all in on 19. We have some on campus right now that will be the future.

Oh my bad Tylan Morton Hudl
He looked very impressive and would have up to 3 years of eligibility. Stacked at WR this year so he should have a big year

I would, and I agree with the OP. Considering Lowell and Myles, plus the unseen new offense, an elite qb may be a tough get. I think if we miss on the top group, sleepers are the way to go. QB's are some of the hardest to project success rate, and yet the most vital position. Look at the number one draft pick this year, I wonder how many elite college programs passed on him. There are plenty of examples of lower level QB's that out perform power program QBs. Take a flier on a sleeper, and if they do not pan out, then they transfer in a couple years.

We can always use QB depth, and the cream will rise to the top. The others will transfer and seek playing time elsewhere.

Holy smokes this guy looks legit. He surely has a cannon for an arm and can fly. Bring this dude in for a look. Wonder if he on our radar? He should at least be looked at closely IMO. Looks like a baller.

From Sam Spiegelman?

quote:

For #LSU, it’s Justin Fields or bust. Sources have maintained they will not take a QB just to take a QB.

Fields is their top priority

This is also in the Tigerdroppings article about Justin Fields decommitting from PSU.

Did he just have awful grades or something?

With those stats he put up and that tape, I would think some school would have looked at him

And yeah, they may be saying Fields or bust right now, but you don't know how Brennan is going to look this season and how reliable Narcisse can be with his knee injuries

Yes it was a grade issue!! And he's only gotten better. I was blown away from watching him in person!!! Very good respectful kid as well. Also note that he skipped Memorial Day so he could get on campus to start working asap and throughout the whole workout with only upperclassman you would've thought he'd been there the longest! Very good leadership

I think you're right. I wouldn't take a QB just to have one. Myles Brennan is a stud and will be the future. He's open to Red Shirting, so he'll have 4 years of eligibility after this year. We're going to have to shine a bit on offense before we get a non-legacy elite QB coming over.

Im (we're all) hoping that a better system around Etling will take some of the pressure off of him and allow the offense to open a little bit. Then, IMO, I think Brennan gets in the drivers seat as a RS-Freshman. While Canada says he designs the offense around the QB, I think he is essentially a pro-style guy who likes a mobile Pro-style QB (Brennan had 9 TD's, 455 rushing yards, and 3,982 passing yards in his senior year alone)

Wow, this Tyler Morton QB is not a sleeper. He throws so smooth yet the ball is moving, even on his back foot, just think when that is fixed.

This guy would challenge Myles B and company from the start he arrives. Bring him in!!

I'd be rich if I had one dollar for every time someone in our fan base said, [insert recruit] is a stud and the future, before they've taken a single collegiate snap.

Very good point I thought the same when watching his film prior to visiting with him and dayum... the work this kid has put in wow. After the pretty intense workout in the weight room where he was very impressive for his weight! He stayed for another hour practicing roll out passes and to properly hold the ball before his release, was a bad habit I noticed in film! Threw over 50 balls and there were zero drops and damn did they have speed behind them! Numerous times the two guys were grimising and shaking their hands from how hard he was throwing... All on the run one WR at 25 yards away and the other at 40. He is one of the most determined players I've ever seen and has already put what you pointed out to rest. All he needs are his grades and hopefully and offer because he loves LSU.

Carter Bradley is visiting LSU this week to throw. Really like his shirt to intermediate game and he's 6-3, 200 lbs with some mobility.

Schucker had a great visit and if he had an offer wouldn't surprise me if he committed on the spot. But damn smash I love his film, would like to see how he does on campus. Kinda reminds me of Chad Kelly in a way
