After the weekends UT and A&M had what are the chances of getting Caden Sterns back?!?!

I'm sure commits/recruits make life decisions based off one game.

Doubt it. After watching Texas' secondary, i would think Sterns could go there and start right away.

He's solid to Texas. Day 1 starter since they lose a good amount of the secondary.

Duke Williams did. Not that he's the best example of sound decision making...

I think Sterns is locked in with UT at the moment, maybe it's because he didn't go to the game. Heard the fan reactions left a very bad impression on the recruits who attended their game.

20 recruits on the sidelines had fans throwing shite on them from the stands.

I get looking at the UT game and their roster from an outside standpoint and as a major recruit thinking you'd have ample opportunity and great odds of playing and possibly starting from day 1, and that is at any position on the field it would seem.... But honestly who would want to join up with that sort of dysfunction. Herman will more than likely turn things around but in reality at best with the way the program was left as a whole youre looking at years here, not just a season or two. Why would you want to be apart of a major rebuilding job and not have the chance at major bowl games and more prominent national exposure as an individual player. I'd want to be able to compete for championships as a blue chip prospect, be able to play in the spotlight in a positive way....the fact fans are throwing stuff at the players and trashing the field and tarnishing the image of the whole program is not something I'd ever want to sign up for. Caden Sterns also probably saw true freshmen all over the field on an LSU defense that thoroughly dominated it's opponent and came out of the weekend looking like a program on a different level that is truly among the elite and top tier programs in all of college football...but still wants to join that dumpster fire that's no where near being put out and the major reason why is playing time? That makes no sense whatsoever.

And the argument can be made that the team we didn't allow past the 50 yard line is better than the team that hung 51 points on UT at home.

they do, then they change their mind the next day and "commit" elsewhere for a week.

Weird how he would go to Texas knowing they haven't been good or putting players in the league. People always say if LSU starts looking better at QB they will come. Well that doesn't hold true to Caden going to Texas

Texas could finish with a losing record this year and still end up a top 4 class. Obviously the play on the field isn't affecting their decision.

It's possible. I'd say it's more about how ugly the losses, or in some cases the wins.

Make no mistake, that was an ugly loss... at home... for UT. I would think it will affect recruiting some. How much? Won't know till Dec or Feb; maybe it comes up in some interview.

Why do I think the optics around a loss (or in some cases wins) matter more. Most recruits are studying their position coach and how their position is used. Yes, some are fans and "dream schools", but most are focused on themselves. And rightly so.

I wouldn't go that far lol.. I mean possibly just bc it's Texas. But that's just wishful thinking right about now.

It is if history is any indicator.
I worked this up for the "Cherry Picking Texas" thread, but Texas has successfully recruited 28 top 10 prospects in state since 2009. 21 of 28 came before 2014 (in which they were living off of their 2009 run).
2014 - 2016 all ended with 5-7 records. The 2017 class is the only one since 09 where they have not inked a single top 10 in state prospect.

Obviously other factors will play into it but there is an undeniable "chicken and egg" type relationship between talent and wins. You can't consistently win without talent, and you can't consistently get talent without wins.

If recruits, their parents or an 8 year old cousin who is a girl watched the game they would know the head coach made a whole lot of dysfunctional calls. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see the shittyness and smell the stink. This game (losing to a 19 point dog at home) is on the head coach and his stupid, ridiculous decisions.

Based on the stupid calls that cost his team the Maryland game?

Yeah, I mean Maryland has SO much talent they don't know what to do with all of it. It's not like Texas hasn't had two top 10 recruiting classes the last three years while Maryland's best class the same time span has been 41st.

If they saw the fantastic coaching on display in that game the rebuilding doesn't even matter. Herman had the most talent in his conference last year and lost to Navy, SMU and Memphis and finished in sixth place. He is continuing this trend at Texas by losing to Maryland. I don't know if "rebuild" is part of the equation for recruits.

Not if recruits and their parents are watching the games. The coach with the team that was ranked, had the most talent and was playing at home lost to Maryland. There were some head-scratching calls made during that game. Why would that fire a recruit up to go play for UT?
