Recruiting in the age of NIL

I think with rookie contracts (NIL deals) spiraling out of control, it makes sense to not blow your entire wad on high school recruits. It makes sense to try and get guys at a discount on their second contacts (transfer portal) a year or two down the road.

The comment about half of A&Ms class being in the portal next year got me thinking about it. These kids can get NIL money now, but once they get to campus, they still need to get developed and actually get playing time to reach their ultimate goal of the NFL.

So, let them go fester one of these Texas team's roster for a year, and then go after them when their priorities have shifted.

Boosters are creating a non profit for NIL to UT Players. That's probably going to be the norm going forward.

We all know it's not the actual schools paying the money.
