Recruiting day surprise

It seems like every year LSU lands a player that came out of nowhere. Anyone hearing of any such player, maybe from the JUCO ranks or a graduate transfer we haven't heard about? It seems like that transfer portal is growing every day. Maybe we can get lucky like Texas and get a school to release a 5-star after he signed to go somewhere else. I have this feeling that something behind the scenes is going on and we are going to get a big (good) surprise on signing day! No comment mentioning Ish is allowed!

Recruiting day surprises were a Les Miles specialty. He’s no longer LSU’s coach.

I do think we will land a DL and since most of us don't really expect it, we wish it, I guess that'll be a surprise. Only other suprises may be one we don't like for instance a reach.

Philips was an early signing day surprise.
Kwon Alexander was one of my favorite signing day surprises. I couldn't find the video but i remember seeing Les getting the fax and freaking! That dude was such a good linebacker at LSU

There wasn't even an early signing day that year. Phillips flipped about a week before NSD, in January 2017.
Chaisson was an actual signing day commitment that same year, so I guess he would fit the bill, although we had kind of been trending a day or two before, so I wouldn't call him a total surprise.

I figured the signing day surprises would stop for the most part with the early signing period.

To Oklahoma maybe. He didn't flip to LSU until a few days before signing day.
Todd Harris, Tyler Taylor, K'Lavon Chaisson and Justin Jefferson were all signing day or later decisions.

Yea he's at Kansas so what does that tell you?
O is doing much better than Miles ever did in terms of filling needs and recruiting great players where it counts. I think we'll get some surprises if not in this HS class then either in JUCO or transfers.
I want him to sign guys that will contribute right away though and not guys who are just fillers. They have lots of good talent at OT in the transfer portal I think LSU can get. I hope we can fill the DL with the HS recruits we are after. Maybe dip into the portal for OT and OLB (rushers). We need depth there to give Chassion a breather and for when he leaves.

I'd call Ika a surprise. We picked up momentum pretty late in the process.

Garmon Randolph TE Jefferson, Georgia. Showed good hands at the Tiger's summer camp and it seems they really like him. He's in the 6-6 235 range. I think he gets into the class.
